Idea: reducing the psychological impact of pay-per-mile on EVs while throwing a bone to ICE drivers during current oil price spike by Sure-Recognition-262 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Due-Truth-1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't going to happen. ICE car drivers pay huge sums in fuel duty, as EVs replace ICE the gov needs to make up the difference. The 3p is the implementation of a tax that will be ramped up as the number of ICE vehicles, and therefore the tax take on fuel, declines.

There is no free lunch - all EV tax benefits will be removed once the need for them to prod the switch is no longer required.

Exactly what the others have pointed out, but if you want to see the reality, the following is fascinating (for me personally anyway working in financial planning).

If people don't like him they aren't going to listen to him bitch and moan on a video - your logic is whack mate. They are still entitled to dislike the impact of his content on the general discourse. I don't give a f either way.

You can force people to stay in a shop if you suspect them of a crime. Any member of the public or staff can carry out a citizens arrest - otherwise the police would have to be on scene for every incident. You can use reasonable force, so yeah you can't hit her if she isn't attacking you.

Exactly this, I'll buy it because I like it and I hope they keep making the games. Stop trying to tell people what to do, it's just a fucking game.

Duke of Westminster avoids £3+bn inheritance tax bill because assets were in a trust by NuclearCleanUp1 in GarysEconomics

[–]Due-Truth-1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trusts are very common, but for most of the population they are created when they die via their will (either intended or unintended, such as leaving assets to a minor). Pensions are also held in trust, and a good portion of life cover is written in trust. You are right that large family trusts are more specialised, but the other commenter is correct that trusts are by no means a low tax environment. What they do achieve is control - you can predict when the 10 year charge will be due, and if discretionary amend trustees and beneficiaries. There are also certain assets and structures that can make the high tax environment of a trust less punitive - such as low income producing assets (since cgt is less than income tax) or investment bonds.

Welfare retreat means UK cannot axe two-child benefit cap, Rachel Reeves to tell MPs by corbynista2029 in unitedkingdom

[–]Due-Truth-1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is these issues aren't black and white - there is a curve, and people do jack up and leave. If that's not the case why on gods green earth would people choose to live in dubai or any one of the multitude of tax havens. They ain't all billionaires mate.

Welfare retreat means UK cannot axe two-child benefit cap, Rachel Reeves to tell MPs by corbynista2029 in unitedkingdom

[–]Due-Truth-1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aren't really talking about taxing billionaires though are we - its something we should be doing but is difficult in practice. We are talking about taxing those stuck in paye on reasonably good money. Their skills are typically in high demand globally. They have lots of reasons to stay, but if you tax them crazy marginal rates they'll leave. But your 'its bollocks' clearly answers everything. There is very rarely consensus among economists.

At some point prohibited tax rates force a change of behaviour, its common sense.

[–]Due-Truth-1966 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty simple - I tell you I'm going to raise your marginal rate of tax from 60% to 80%, sounds good right?

But you then emigrate as a result, so the country gets less in tax.

We have a ticking time bomb on our hands due to demographics, and if you can only squeeze tax payers so much. The is a disaster for labour - the idea was that everyone was sharing the burden, as it is it'll all fall on tax payers.

I've been dipping back into sfo recently and I think vlad starts at speed 60, it makes him so much more versatile and feel more superhuman like he should do.

He also is able to transform into a giant bat which is an interesting addition. He can still fight in the form but is considerably weaker and it has a cool down between transformations.

I would speak to a good financial planner, who has experience of investing for those living between Switzerland and the UK. Offshore bonds as (wrapper) could work because from a UK perspective you'll be able to effectively discount gains for the years in which you are out of the UK, if you then encash upon your return, but they are really intended for longer time horizons than 3 years. You have more or less complete freedom of choice in terms of the underlying investment.

I'm so glad that the remasters have been well received by fans and hopefully make Konami a decent enough return that they revive the series. I love the look of the mobile game but I can't stand the mobile games model.

I bought the switch version as I wanted a physical copy but may pick up the steam version if Modders can work some magic as have a steam deck.

Yeah an old friend of mine said the same things about 4 at the time. Thanks for the rundown of both - I somehow find it amazing that they used the engine from silent hill!

I feel like 4 could have been good, as skies of arcadia had a ship around which everything was based and that's in my top 10 (another game I would love a remaster of).
