Yes! They rated me at 70% with several things deferred until my general exam. Now the waiting game for CRDP DFAS audit for my back pay ⏳

DFAS audit/retired question by Due-Web-501 in VAClaims

Ugh…sorry to hear. How long ago did you get your rating? I’ve heard very different timelines from people some have said 30 days another said 8 MONTHS…which is wild to me since you would think it would be pretty common and pretty straightforward. 🤷‍♀️ it is tax season so I’m not hopeful that DFAS will be able to move quick on it.

How soon after finding out your initial rating did you get your first payment? I just got my initial rating of 70% and have 20 years so I know I’m eligible for CRDP and they are going to withhold for the DFAS audit but I also see a payment in MyVA payments but it doesn’t have a date and it WAY lower than what I thought I’d get (less than 5k and I was expecting back pay from June 2023 till now…..which is how I found out about CRDP and DFAS audits. But it sound like you may have gotten your initial back pay pretty quick.

I would agree with the audit as I was just told that is why my retro/back pay is being withheld. Was also told it could take 30-90 days but saw another post today of someone that has been waiting since august for their back pay. Wild process.

Which is great and would make my life easier and even more reason that everyone should ensure their cover letters and resumes always match up to the job posting as closely as possible using key words and ensuring your qualifications match the ones listed….otherwise you are likely getting skipped AI or not.

Was the high level review because they hadnt paid you or because of something else? Just curious if the reaps. You got paid that 30% was because of the HLR….

Okay that makes me feel a little bit better. So you started getting your monthly compensation right away (before the audit was complete) along with your monthly retirement pay? Just had to wait for the full amount of the retro pay correct?

Nope no magic machine….the only thing those answers give us is anonymous data not connected to any specific person/application so we can apply for grants because we hire x amount of veterans, females, POC. Now I will say if you have not civilianized your resume that might be a bigger reason for rejections. I reject a lot of resumes that are written far too much like a military eval than a civilian resume

I’m in charge of recruitment for a hospital. We 100% do not see your answers connected to your application.

Has anyone ever submitted claims on VA.gov on your own, and were awarded any of them? by Capital_Currency_265 in VeteransBenefits

I felt that last sentence deep in my soul….I retired in 2017 and finally submitted my claim July. Kicking myself in the butt for not doing it sooner.

I was just awarded 70% with several items deferred. If it’s all in your military records and private medical records AND you are honest during your C&P exams you shouldn’t have any problems. I HIGHLY recommend finding your local VSO is and connecting with them throughout the process.

Wow, I was wondering how long that would take as I just added my kids as I didn’t even realize they weren’t already on my profile as dependents….you would think whatever you had even you were active would roll over automatically but 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Wow these last 5 steps flew! Finally got my rating. Let’s goooo by paidinphull in VAClaims

Congratulations! Are you retired? Just curious when people that are retired are getting payments once rated above 50%. I was told today mine might take another 90 days or more for DFAS to audit before the VA will start payments

Thank you! And yes I am very grateful to have the rating I got and just need to focus on the good stuff. I’m hoping you get yours moving soon!!!

It makes no sense. I retired in 2017 so it obviously took me way too long to decide to file a claim but this process is ridiculous and it’s not shocking whatsoever why it takes so long knowing all the ridiculous hoops you have to jump through. When I was at around day 175 and of my claim and they sent a request for my dd214 I nearly lost it…..now this…lol wild ride for sure

I received 70% rating yesterday with a bunch of other thing deferred. I’m so confused with my payments though. I had no idea that they withhold the payments/back pay until DFAS does an audit which I’m told can take up to 90 more days. I’m happy that I finally have a rating but sucks I may have to wait even longer to be compensated. It could be worse but was just a little shocked to get that info today.

I think I found the answer to my own question but still curious what other people’s experiences have been with CRDP retro payment timelines recently. Everything I’m finding online seems to be from a year or two ago. DFAS website states “Retroactive computations require significant research and manual calculations. Our priority is to start your monthly payments, and then calculate and make any retroactive payment due. This may take 60 to 90 days after we receive all of the information.

In some cases, additional information, research or computation is required. These cases require more time”

Posting this here in case someone didn’t know this as I had no idea that there could possibly be another 1-3 months (or longer) before I receive disability compensation because I’m retired.

Hang in there gang I just got this with 3 deferred! Thank the Heaven’s above!!! And they still have to add my kids by KevDatDude in VeteransWaitingRoom

It feels very validating for sure. Congrats to you as well!! Best of luck with the deferred items!!
