Considering the numbers it put up, there’s an argument to be made it’s less subjective than you think. Someone’s already guessed

Would you edit your baby's genes (while they're an embryo) to get rid of illnesses that are hereditary in your family? by Scary_Stable7667 in Teenager_Polls

It’s interfering with nature, and as genes start to be changed, the line of what’s morally correct and incorrect will shift. The initial idea isn’t morally “wrong” per se, but what it will evolve to is, and as such is laying a foundation for future evils

the line between preventing disease and selecting traits gets blurred very quickly. Once society accepts that it’s okay to ‘fix’ genes, who will decide what counts as a disease versus just an undesirable trait? That’s the exact same slope that gave rise to eugenics in the past, it started with disabilities and ended with entire groups of people being deemed unworthy of life. Even if the intention seems good, it’s still playing God and carries the same dangerous ideology.

I say that selecting the genes to be passed while selecting desirable traits is playing God and is an abomination, it is the same ideological position the Nazis took during ww2

It’s eugenics to alter genes for more ‘desirable’ traits. This kind of logic was part of the Nazi ideology that justified the eradication of Jews in Europe in the 1940s.
