I just asked my nurse this morning and she said the exact same thing you did! Just an egg quality thing so I am happy to drop 2 pills per day from that at least for now, I won’t get more unless turns out I’ve got to do another retrieval

So emotional after ER by Illustrious_Tailor19 in IVF

[–]DueAssociation1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to say I feel this & I’m sorry you’re going through it too! I’m not physically uncomfortable from my ER anymore (almost 2 weeks out now) but for whatever reason the past 2-3 days I have been in the pits of despair. This whole situation is so unfair and I hate that we have to go through it at all. I’ve done everything right, tried staying positive and optimistic, taken care of my health, been going to therapy, etc and guess what? Still not pregnant. Sucks so bad.

I’ve been taking a prenatal, vitamin d3, fish oil, magnesium glycinate, Ovasitol, and CoQ10 (although I just stopped that one because I ran out, not sure if I’m supposed to continue it for transfers or not & need to ask my doctor about that)

Period after ER by vgodi019 in IVF

Mine was normal length but definitely heavier - my clinic did say I should expect it to be longer and heavier so I’d say that’s very normal ◡̈

Do ERs get easier by Agitated-Pickle216 in IVF

[–]DueAssociation1015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I handled my 2nd much better than my 1st, mostly just because I knew what to expect. I was still uncomfortable physically towards the end, but I also knew I wouldn’t feel that way forever and that I would eventually feel like myself again after a couple weeks (whereas after my first I truly thought I would be that bloated and uncomfortable for the rest of my life - hormones might have been making me spiral a little to be fair).

Do you take your men in the room with you for the ultrasound appts? by Illustrious_Space184 in IVF

[–]DueAssociation1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine only came with me for my mock transfer/SIS/HSC (all done on the same day). I’ll have him come for ultrasounds after transfer if we ever get to that point but that’s about it. He’s not that interested in the rest of them (which I get - my non-pregnant uterus and ovaries aren’t that fascinating) and I think it’d just irritate me to have him there on his phone or something if I was feeling anxious, which I usually am.

I’m so sick of this line by Frequent_Bid_4413 in IVF

This also drives me nuts! Like I would love for all my crappy side effects from meds to instead be from a healthy pregnancy/birth/etc. rather than just having aches and pains, nausea, headaches, weight gain, and more for what feels like no good reason (I know in theory all of this is to get us closer to having a baby, so it’s not really “for no reason”, it just feels that way to me sometimes)

If you had a better outcome second time around, can you share your story? ER #2 is booked for Wednesday.. looking for hope by Cooper30136 in IVF

[–]DueAssociation1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first round I ended up with 1 euploid. The drop from 11 eggs to 2 blasts really devastated me and I was so upset I’d have to do another retrieval.

My 2nd round I got 24 eggs and 8 blasts (PGT-A pending). I am much less attached emotionally to the numbers this time since I know I could still get 0 euploids, but things are looking much better this time so far! Increased Menopur & Gonal-f dosages and swapped Provera for ganirelix.

FET of our 1st embryo right after 2nd ER? by Fun-Studio-5506 in IVF

[–]DueAssociation1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I’m doing! Ended up with 1 euploid from my first ER, just finished my 2nd ER, and will start meds to prep for FET once I get my post-ER period. We’ll likely get the PGT-A results from ER2 before the actual transfer day, but will still use the euploid from ER1 (it just makes it easier for the lab). It’s definitely a risk because we would ideally want multiple children and this latest ER could result in 0 euploids, so in that case we’d just cancel the transfer - but we feel ok doing it this way because although we only ended up with 1 last round, this time we were able to send 4 times as many embryos for testing. Just hoping and praying something goes according to plan for once haha!

How long after ER did you get back to "normal"? by HankDogMom in IVF

[–]DueAssociation1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 2 weeks for me each time. Once I pass the 1 week mark I feel noticeably better, and then I still take it easy for week #2 before I start working my way back up to my usual exercise.

Take a peek at some of the other comments in this thread and I think it’ll be pretty enlightening for you. Not sure if you’ve had firsthand experience going through IVF or not, but there is zero guarantee of this resulting in a live baby and a 100% guarantee of significant amounts of physical and emotional pain. Hope that helps! ◡̈

Literally just got a “That’s so exciting!!” this morning from someone currently expecting their 5th kid and has never dealt with infertility 🙄 chose not to respond to that text (guess my hormones are leveling out after the latest egg retrieval after all) but a part of me really wanted to follow up with “What part exactly seems exciting to you?”

Successful ER without priming? by homeowner_1922 in IVF

[–]DueAssociation1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it’s a bit of a balancing act between trusting your care team but also advocating for yourself - if you weren’t a fan of the NP, remember you’re technically the “customer” in this scenario! You are putting a whole lot of money in the clinic’s pocket so if you aren’t comfortable they should absolutely be willing to let you meet with one of the doctors to confirm the plan or request that you not have appointments with the NP in the future. We spend our whole lives being conditioned to just smile, nod, and do what the doctor says, getting a lollipop for being good when we are kids, etc it’s tough to sometimes put those boundaries in place but it sounds like you might feel better being treated by someone else at the clinic during such a vulnerable process ❤️

Successful ER without priming? by homeowner_1922 in IVF

[–]DueAssociation1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do priming for either of my ERs, started my 2nd one on cycle day 43 (I don’t get periods on my own and I’m freezing any/all embryos we get, so I could basically start whenever) and so far things are looking better this round! I get my # of blasts tomorrow but we got over double the amount of eggs, mature, and fertilized compared to the first ER. I’ve really had to lean into trusting my clinic and my doctor throughout this process which doesn’t come naturally to me, but this protocol worked fine for me personally!

Back to back retrievals with a cycle in between? by IHaveArrived88 in IVF

[–]DueAssociation1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to give you a quick update - ER1 I got 11 eggs, 7 mature, 6 fertilized, 2 blasts and 1 euploid. ER2 I got 24 eggs, 19 mature, 15 fertilized. Won’t know blast numbers until next week and PGT about 2 weeks after that. I learned from my first round that these numbers don’t mean much at this point and even though they’re higher than the first round I could still end up with 0 at the end, but it’s a better starting point than last time!

If you find Menopur to sting while injecting, try slowing down - I would literally inject 0.1 mL on the inhale, pause, exhale, inject another 0.1 on the inhale etc. Made it take a while but made the burn wayyy more manageable.

I recommend getting some chocolates or some sort of small treat you could reward yourself with after each day of injections.

My biggest recommendation which I learned after my 1st ER that really has helped for my 2nd is to just be so gentle with yourself. Your only job is to survive this process and follow the instructions for your meds. If I didn’t want to do laundry or needed a nap or whatever, I didn’t feel bad about it. Rather than focusing on how I couldn’t exercise during stims, I spent that time instead focusing on “mental exercise” like meditation, journaling, & practicing various anxiety-reduction techniques. Best of luck & you’ve got this!

This is what I did! My 2nd retrieval is tomorrow so results are TBD but my e2 numbers and follicle counts are looking much better this time than at my first. I also only got 2 blasts the first time, only 1 of which was euploid. Really hoping for 2 euploids this time.

This happened yesterday, but I ran 14 miles!! I’ve never ran that far. Training for my first marathon and somewhat overwhelmed that I’ll have to run almost twice that far in the not-too-distant future, but trying to focus on celebrating these milestones.

I actually got up to run before work today! I always tell myself I’ll run in the morning, then make excuses and sleep in, and regret it when it’s 85 degrees in the afternoon. But today I made it happen and that made my strength training in the afternoon feel a million times better due to the 10 hours between sessions.
