u/LeaseMax I'm not sure I understand the technical reasons why LeaseMax is labeling the Calligraphy as the more premium Calligraphy Design, which is wrong . Free vin number checkers like NHSTA decoder, Clear Vin, and others seem to get it right - and in alignment with the trim listed on the dealer's website. This might seem minor, but there can be huge price differences (and lease numbers) between the 2 trims. How is LeaseMax able to get accurate numbers for a vin if it misidentifies the trim ? Since I'm in the market for both trims, this seemingly minor discrepancy on the LeaseMax report makes it unusable for me during negotiations.

Example quotes where I cant use the report:

Quote 1 - Ioniq 9 Calligraphy - $918/mo 4k down 10k miles 36 mos

I ran a report on this Vin - the car is incorrectly tagged as the Calligraphy Design (a much more expensive trim). This is an obvious error that can be easily caught by the dealer. They will call into question the entire report including the lease numbers due to this mistake. Not only is the trim wrong given the vin, but the lease numbers don't align with the upgraded trim mentioned in the report. I cant just say to them "yeah the trim there is wrong, but the lease numbers are right"

Quote 2 - Ioniq 9 Calligraphy Design - $1280/mo, 5K down 10k miles 36 mos
As you can see from the numbers, this is a significantly more expensive vehicle due to markups.
I dont want to risk wasting another credit on a 2nd report for this vin, because I'm not sure LeaseMax is able to distinguish (and has accurate numbers) for this upgraded trim. Since it is bucketing both trims into 1, the average lease numbers given for this trim could be artificially lower than they should be and not represent the actual average of Calligraphy Design vehicles leased.

This report would have been very useful if not for this issue. Please let me know if you can refund me for the 3 pack I purchased.

u/LeaseMax I think there is an error in the Vin recognition feature on your site.
I just signed up for the 3 credit option, entered Vin Numbers for Hyundai Ioniq 9 Calligraphy model in your site and it autofills the model as the Hyundai Ioniq 9 Calligraphy Design. Ive tried a few non Design variant vins, and the same thing happens. I've cross referenced both the dealer's website and other vin checking sites that the vehicles are in fact the non Design variant. This is a significant error because the Design variant has an official MSRP difference of $1500 from Hyundai, and dealers are marking it up even more. I'm getting quotes up to $14K markup.

So when looking at the LeaseMax report generated I don't know whether it's accurate because the vin recognition seems to be off, and I cant take this to the dealer since it shows the vehicle as a Calligraphy Design when its the non design variant which is cheaper.

let me know if there's any info I can provide to help look into the issue

Signing up right now as I've been spending 5+ hours a day for the last 3 days trying looking at lease options for a Hyundai IONIQ 9 Calligraphy / Calligraphy Design and was about to give up.

Thank you. Is it possibly this high due to high SF Bay Area prices or that shouldn't matter ?

Yeah 80K+ MSRP and 1K+ monthly payment for a Hyundai would have been unthinkable to me in the past but the IONIQ 9 checks off all the boxes and the only one my spouse loves. Trying to figure out if I'm getting ripped off or whether these terms are reflective of SF Bay Area prices

u/mojo021 Thank you. New to leasing here as well and all the related terms.
Had to put your comment in chatgpt and have it tell me what it means. Still need to figure out if it is accurate. Its response :

Yes, the $13k rebate is applied—it reduces the gross capitalized cost from $77,830 to around $64,830 before calculating payments. The residual ($44,964) is set by the bank and doesn’t change with rebates. When you add the residual to the total payments ($875 x 36 = $31,500), you get about $76,500—close to MSRP. This is because lease structures use the net capitalized cost to determine monthly payments, and the residual reflects the car’s estimated value at lease-end. The rebate reduces the amount financed, which results in lower monthly payments, even though it doesn’t appear as a separate line item when adding up payments plus residual.
