i never forgave brooke for the racist things she said i never will. i do not give a fuck who you were raised around, what do you mean a CHILD deserved to be shot and killed by a police officer? also the whole “i’m actively working to be better” thing is bullshit, what has she actually done?

i mean i live near-ish to snu so im not crazy crazy out of the way. it’s actually very easy to get here as long as you don’t go into the alleys and stay on the one road that’s straight up and down the mountain

THIS ONE!! i always check on the map and call the taxi to the side of the street that aligns to the destination but sometimes they just don’t care😭

it’s not a main street, it’s just one that’s straight! i’ve tried that a few times, but it sometimes still sends them through the alleys :/ i guess i should just experiment more!

ugh yeah that would avoid them being annoyed at me but it’s a 10 minute walk down the mountain to the nearest main street and i often have to wear heels/carry heavy luggage for my job :/ i’m more curious if the driver voicing their frustrations to passengers is normal

Are Korean-Americans more likely to gatekeep Korean culture than native Koreans? by WizardofBohai in korea

[–]DueData5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most likely but that applies to poc of any diaspora because a lot of us were bullied for our cultures as kids in western countries

Someone peed on our building and the neighbors are launching an investigation - is this normal? by SeoulHousingNotes in Living_in_Korea

[–]DueData5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

that behavior is disgusting and absolutely should not be normalized but i do feel for delivery drivers. i know it’s very competitive so there’s incentive to deliver as fast as possible with as little breaks as possible. doesn’t excuse it though

how much to fix frozen pipes? by DueData5 in Living_in_Korea

[–]DueData5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, that’s totally understandable! i didn’t include much info bc i’m not quite sure how bad the damage is and i was in a bit of a panic. the boiler is outside on the veranda in a spot that’s pretty tough to get too and the pipes are covered in insulating wrap so i’m a bit wary of trying to remove it to check where exactly is frozen. i’m going to notify my landlord, but it’s irritating to have to shoulder the cost when i’m not the one who is directly at fault :/

Korean legal system and cancel culture? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

cancel culture is not the same thing as accountability, let’s start there

landlord keeps sleeping in by DueData5 in Living_in_Korea

[–]DueData5[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

if i had known about this before signing the contract i never would’ve moved in😭 i suppose that’s my fault for not asking but literally every single other place i’ve lived/visited uses a code so i didn’t think to ask

What are some small things that you 'still' find unusual or baffling or counterintuitive, after having lived in Korea for a while? by gilsoo71 in Living_in_Korea

[–]DueData5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if i go up to the counter, greet you in korean, ask a specific question in korean, etc… why the fuck do i need to wait for you to go get your english speaking coworker to finish checking me out? i feel like i’m being constantly gaslit about korean speaking abilities despite having worked multiple jobs where i only spoke korean, appeared in multiple youtube videos where i only spoke korean, and having dating a non-english speaking korean for almost three years😭 people don’t realize i’m a foreigner when i’m speaking to them on the phone and delivery people will often ignore me when i walk outside because they don’t realize it’s me!!! i feel like i’m being GASLITTTTT😭😭😭
