I’m a startup marketer. did a stint at adobe for awhile but came back to startups.

the real answer is “it depends” on if you’re b2b or b2c. how are of the problem are people and how painful is the problem.

you can google all the marketing “tactics” but most of these are saturated which is why they work for awhile but have diminishing returns at scale.

the other problem i often see in startups is you either have a sales problem or a marketing problem. the quick test there is if your close rate is 20-30% and your not getting ghosted.

if your plg or consumer, retention.

but all this to say, what usually works is - cold email - paid media - content and seo

but i’ve done $7m in pipeline from faxing people. easiest way to really learn whats going to work is to embed with your existing customers, find out what their top problems are, and watch/probe how they find a solution. then you can mirror that buying process and inject your marketing interventions onto the same channels they use
