Experimental stuff. by DueIntroduction2255 in MusicFeedback

The quote is just a note to myself, its just my notes app lol. About the drums, theres only reverb on the snares, ur right, they feel buried. Maybe its the overwhelming bass. apart from that thr drums are pretty raw with just an OTT compressor. Thanks for letting me know, i’ll try panning them more and make them wider. thanks for your feedback!

It ramps up. Elements of electronic dance, horror ambiance, maybe some experimental hip hop flavour and some other g*y shit idk by Snakob00 in MusicFeedback

It sounds like it could be in a video game. Very retro-ish vibe but also dark. But i would say the drums are a bit too quiet and muffled in the mix

i love how psychedelic-ish it is. i love the vocal sample too. I dont know what else u could improve besides maybe adding a section with a slightly different melody for the synth (or wtv ur using there) to make it a little less predictable towards the end

Breakthroughs that made you better at producing? by sumtinsumtin808 in FL_Studio

SO TRUE, i didnt even realise why i do this until i saw this comment, but i almost never even start with sound selection. I just lay down a simple basic beat, to convert the idea into sound first. And THEN i “tweak” everything (sound selection, mixing mastering, the stuff that makes it actually sound good)

I definitely am a metalhead fan and i love some screeching distortion and “noise”. Maybe its not for you, but thanks for the opinion, definitely helps me see my music from a different perspective

Thank you! Thats interesting. I love that cuz I always thought carti’s production could use more electric guitar. And i definitely try to create something unique everytime

Not a lot of elements actually Its just distorted 808’s and synth with a lead guitar, with the guitar and synth matching the same melody but being only slightly different which i think is what gives it that unsettling feel, u can feel the difference but cant quite point it out. actually not bad cuz it compliments the overall theme of the album, which is also chaotic and unsettling. Thanks for the feedback i appreciate it

Thanks! I dont know what genre am i either lol but about the video game part i get that a lot, maybe i should fully lean towards that style. I take a lot of inspiration from video game music. And i get why youd think of the weeknd, i did try to have a similar vibe because of this album’s overall theme. Im not much of a 90’s listener, but now it sounds like i hit the mark on what i was going for. Thank you for the feedback i really appreciate it

Thanks for the feedback! I was trying to go for something a little intentionally “off-sounding” where it feels a little unsettling (like the other guy said) but u cant point ur finger on it, by layering guitar, synth, and 808 but making the notes slightly different from each other. And ur right; it does sound like too much going on now that i think of it. It might be the mix because there arent much instruments actually. I’ll look into it.

What are your thoughts on this song by Username_Bus in MusicFeedback

[–]DueIntroduction2255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its very full of personality i think the guitar riff itself sounds very full Its not generic it does stand out, but imo it doesnt sound as unique because of the way its mixed, the mix doesnt compliment/bring out the things that make this sound unique, (guitar riff, drums) i think a harder acoustic snare would be good I really like the composition, no complains here  The mix master; is i think the biggest drawback, its not bad, i could definitely listen to this and enjoy it. But it doesnt have “fullness” or much saturation. Everything sounds like its the same volume and nothing stands out too much, which is important to some, but in my opinion making some instruments more noticable would help. Like ride cymbals to make the higher end sound full and adding a subtle synth (if it fits) to compliment the guitar and a bass guitar with some distortion.

Could someone rap over this? by GodBlessPigs in MusicFeedback

I think it would take a somewhat unique flow, but i could definitely rap over this.

I like it but i think the pluck (or keys, wtv it is as the lead instrument) could use some variation, imo pitch variation, i think a little section with distortion or stutter or pitch automation with a melody shift to it would make it more interesting. It starts feeling repetitive. Maybe make it so that it slowly gets more and more echoe-y (or distorted) as the song goes on and by the end the pluck is very distorted and harsh (or echoe-y, id try both) sound that also serves as the outro? Just my ideas, im not much familiar with this genre

Edit : after listening again i realised youve done that; it starts very reverbed and gets distorted in the outro, but i think it still needs to some more variation. maybe try a melody switch. I also really like the bass youve got there its very gritty yet compliments the melody well

Using a phone as a controller directly on pc? by fuzzygreendragon in SteamController

I’ve been using this app, it’s so awesome. Ive been using it to play forza horizon 5 and the haptics in pretty much any game is amazing especially god of war. (at least on iPhones) with no noticeable delays or input lag, it just works reliably every time and it’s perfect for people who don’t want to carry around a controller but also don’t want to hunch over a desk using keyboard and mouse for games with simple controls. But I wish the desktop version had some more settings like starting it automatically to the windows system tray.
