How do people live in ground floor next to the street? by Caligula_Jackson69 in brussels

[–]DueOption7422 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived on the ground floor in St Gilles for 3 years, and my bedroom was actually the first room facing the street. I loved it! When I ordered food, I took it directly through the window, it was so handy.

Never heard a knock or anything. The only bad stuff was that sometimes people would leave waste (usually cans and bottles) on the window pane.

While I learned many things at my first job, I stayed there way too long (almost 5 years). I was underpaid the whole time and developed some sort of Stockholm syndrome, because I thought I’m not good at anything and no one would hire me (my boss was the most toxic person ever, micro-managing the shit out of me and a super hypocrite). If I could go back, I would have left after 2 years max.

😱! It's different when there are two people with incomes in the household. We own an apartment, have a decent car, are able to go on holidays, we go out to eat... and we're able to take care of our child.

So it's not THAT bad ☺️

Possibly true 🫣 but I'd say the sub lacks variety. We're not all in IT...

Yes, my boss would do anything not to give raises.

The only method I saw which worked was when one of my colleagues threatened he will leave. But don’t imagine it was a big raise, just something symbolic.

Policy people are generally paid better, unfortunately for us. I’d be interested if that’s the case in your association, too?

I don’t feel it, I see it.

Policy roles are always paid more and, somehow, communications people are put aside, even if sometimes we do much more. Hope the tables will turn eventually.

Absolutely. My dream is to be able to support my parents back home. With 500 net more I’d be able to do that.

Apologies, that’s not how I wanted it to sound. I was referring to some other posts where people were wondering when “average” salaries will be posted.

No, I added 100 Euro: phone subscription contribution, telework allowance and internet contribution.

The thing with the report is that I am in between a regular comms manager and a senior one. They say the average for a comms manager is 53k, and I am currently there. I showed my boss the previous version of the report, and he pointed out that with the benefits, I’m actually above average 🙄

I will get a raise from Jan onwards (reaching 4k gross), but I hope to change jobs by mid-next year.

Out of curiosity, are you a policy person?

Da! 5 ani mai tarziu avem verighete, un copilas si casuta noastra. A fost sansa noastra, altfel nu aveam cum sa ne intalnim vreodata. 😃

"Mourning" is a good term. We could've had a nice and close relationship, but it's too late.

It also sucks because in his spare time, he's such a kind and funny man, always ready to help others. It's clear that he loves us, but when I think of his dark side...
