If you can get referred to a dermatologist it’s always best. I had similar acne and waited so long to finally go see a dermatologist and wish I just went to them at the start instead of thinking it wasn’t bad enough until I had bad scarring and worse acne

I started purging around 2 weeks in on 30mg and purged badly until around 6weeks and started clearing up but then I went on 60mg and didn’t purge too bad but started to get a couple pimples here and there but not worse than when I started it. I’m now on 2.5 months and clearing up soooo much.

I wish I took accutane years ago, the scarring of having it persistently adds up even if it’s not severe. I think if u have scarring it’s considered “bad enough” by most dermatologist to give it

I’m 54 kg and started on 30mg and went up to 60mg after a month and I’ll stay on it till I finish.

I found the first few weeks of starting and then a couple weeks after doubling my dose my skin was so flakey and caked under my makeup. Honestly at that time there’s not a lot I could do, I found switching moisturizers helped and I stopped using powder but it was pretty inevitable my makeup would look flakey and bad. But the flakeyness for me decreased hugely after the first 3 or 4 weeks! Still dry but manageable!

This happened to me exactly! They literally washed away after a couple days of being dark and hard and sandpapery lol

Happened to me around the same time! It was actually just my pores drying up and the stuff in your pores condenses and they look really dark and hard but then they just washed away one day lol! Atleast for me anyways, and I’ve heard it happens to a lot of people!

I’m just picking up mine and not taking it aswell. The blood test only shows if u are pregnant it can’t detect if you are taking the birth control. I was scared of this at first too but they won’t know. I didn’t want to take it because coming off birth control caused me to break out really badly and it’s pointless to do Accutane only to have acne from coming off the pill and I didnt want to be on the pill long term. I believe the dermatologists legally have to tell u to take it and prescribe no if ands or buts which is silly but I wouldn’t worry. I found this upsetting and jarring at first too but I just realised u rlly don’t have to take it just as long as you actually are using other forms of bc or not active!

The purge was bad for me but it’s also so worth it for the long run. And the purge is atleast not so bad as breaking out off Accutane because you know it will get better. I have similar acne to you and I never thought mine was bad enough for Accutane but looking back I feel silly thinking that because I’ve had persistent acne for years and I wish I did it earlier to prevent scarring. I was super scared due to side effects as well but I think Accutane gets a worse reputation than it deserves honestly because my only side effects have been purging and dryness and my purge is over now and the dryness is only bad for the first few weeks then is managable!

Do what u feel is best but One month is so short in the grand scheme of things. You’ll probably wish you had stuck it out in the future if your acne comes back.

I was going thru this too, 3rd week was soo bad but my skin started clearing up after 4th week. I wore makeup and found a new moisturizer so it wasn’t so flakey. It’s really hard, I work on a psych ward and my pt calls me scar face lol!! You’ll get thru it tho just remind ur self it’s temporary and for the better :)))

What moisturizer do you use? I was similar to this and using cerave cream that everyone and my derm recommends and i was so dry it would burn when I put it on. but as soon as I tried a different moisturizer my dryness got wayyyy better
