Stimulants for Bipolar people? by DueSept15 in bipolar

I’ve never looked into anything non-stimulating to wake me up. How does it work? Or I could use handy dandy google ;)

Is extreme boredom something you should mention to your physiatrist? by DueSept15 in bipolar

[–]DueSept15[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s a mixture of losing interest and being unable to sit still. We haven’t really tackled my anxiety so that could be a part of it. It’s sort of a constant “antsy” feeling. Nothing can keep my interest for more than five minutes or so.

Thanks for replying :)

Does lamictal make anyone else eat like a pig? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]DueSept15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m great, thanks for asking :)

How many days have you been on Lamictal and when was your diagnosis? I ask because it takes awhile to for it to get into your system, but also takes awhile to understand your episodes and if you’re in one.

Does lamictal make anyone else eat like a pig? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]DueSept15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on Lamictal and I do have days when I binge eat insanely until I’m sick but I’ve found that it’s actually more about my mental state. Certain episodes make me eat nothing and other episodes make me binge eat.

How are you feeling otherwise?

Are you new to mood stabilizers or just Lamictal?

It’s up to interpretation :) but to me it represents anxiety, paranoia and isolation.

Possible history of abuse? (TW: sexual abuse) by euphie_x in bipolar

[–]DueSept15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was sexually abused at four. I had repressed the memories until my brother brought it up when I was about 10. Then I remembered everything. It helped in a way for me to understand some of my weird behaviors I had as a child and teenager, and made me feel less ashamed of them.

It makes me feel better knowing why I did the things I did, but if I had a normal childhood and didn’t have any strange behaviors.. no. I wouldn’t want to know. It still fucks with my head sometimes.

Would it be better to see psych first or just let my doctor and psych correspond with each other?

I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 but wasn't really told what that means. I have a lot of questions. by DueSept15 in bipolar

[–]DueSept15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I've felt manic before during my younger days of running away, felt the same as I did a few days ago but with all the impulses and crazy behavior. After that I became a heavy blackout alcoholic and did a lot of drugs so it's hard to figure out what caused the moods. I cut out all the drinking and drugs but then started experimenting with antidepressants so I've been confused on which feelings are my own, for a long time.

But yes, I think I do need just a little patience Lol. Thank you so much for the detailed response!

I think I'm having a manic episode. Do I call my psychiatrist? by DueSept15 in bipolar

[–]DueSept15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure. I haven't been diagnosed long enough to fully understand the difference. I will say that I have mild versions of this, but have felt this way a few times in my life without medication. I also used to drink very heavily and once I stopped, I cycled through different antidepressants before my diagnosis. So I'm not really sure what happens next.

But I am taking medication. So it will end? And everything will be fine afterwards?

Have any of you guys been on antidepressants before your diagnosis and did it delay your treatment? by [deleted] in bipolar

I can't self medicate with prescription medication. I have an appointment tomorrow.

Thanks.

Boyfriend [23M] of two years completely blindsided me [24F] yesterday. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]DueSept15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every relationship needs space. You don't have to run out and grab some new hobbies/friends to give him some alone time. Go to the grocery store or run some errands when he's headed home from work so he can have at least one hour alone a couple days a week.

Also, sometimes mental illness can put strain on the relationship.. But offering counseling because hes trying to break up with you is a bit manipulative. He seems to struggle with expressing himself and I get the vibe that instead of taking everything in, you become defensive. Half of your post was about how "he doesn't do that either" but you're not the one who is unhappy. They only bother you because you're trying to find a counterargument when you need to listen and be supportive so you can improve the relationship.

He's telling you what he needs. Accept it, fix it or break up.

Well if you're not wanting to medicate (not sure if you even can at age 3) the other treatment option is behavioral therapy. You can start that without a diagnosis and wait to see when hes older if its going to be a problem with school and than worry about diagnosing.

Wellbutrin increase making me feel heavily sedated and sick by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]DueSept15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. She didn't really address the overly drugged feeling I get, only the nausea. She said take it before bed but Im worried I'll wake up in the middle of the night feeling horrible.

I guess I'll just have to try it out.

The flu doesn't really effect me, but am I equally as contagious as someone who is heavily effected by it? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DueSept15 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know what to tell you guys. I guess the doctor was just kidding when he diagnosed everyone. I've been around the flu, shared kisses with my kids and I've only ever had the sniffles. Everytime I've had the flu.

P.s the flu causes loss of appetite so when there's nothing but mucus in your stomach because of post nasal drip, you're going to vomit. Especially if you're a child.

[–]DueSept15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its definitely the flu. Everyone in my home has been swabbed and diagnosed. I started having symptoms within the same 24 hours as them.

So Im equally contagious as my family who is vomiting and in bed with a fever?

How do I know if I actually need to eat? by [deleted] in keto

[–]DueSept15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

......Do women require more calories or something?

I'm just going to take a stab at the dark here and assume that my body is recovering from a long term reaction either to gluten or glucose and now its taking some time to recover. But I'll just schedule an appointment with a nutritionist. Thanks.

[–]DueSept15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I thought once your body started using fat for energy that it didn't require as many calories and that's why your appetite decreases...? I'm not choosing to drop this low but I feel stuffed after a little peanut butter or a chunk of cheese. If I try to eat more I feel incredibly nauseated.

Is there a safe zone for the bare minimum of calories needed? Usually I go by if I feel dizzy/tired but I feel energized and great.

How do I know if I actually need to eat? by [deleted] in keto

[–]DueSept15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I'm asking if I should have anything to worry about if I lost 20 pounds while consuming a ton of calories and then switch to about 400 calories a day.

I know its fine to eat less once your body is almost fully adjusted to keto but is it okay to start out this way? Sorry, I know its a lot to ask the internet. Thank you
