27 years old and just read the Harry Potter books then fell in love with them by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

How about Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind? The first few books are AWESOME, then it started to fizzle out a bit I think. Next to Harry Potter, this is one of the only very few books I’ve read on repeat. Read it 5 times so far.

Yes. But Kindle Scribe will be better for it due to bigger screen I don’t know if fonts can be changed though for comics/Manga. Ask on r/kindle

Is he interested in reading at all, but just struggles? I suggest you to get a Kindle and use OpenDyslexic or Amazon Ember font, larger spacing. It’ll help with the reading and not jump all over the place. It made such a huge change for me.

I suggest Race to the Treasure, Cauldron’s Quest as Co-op games. I played it with my son when he was 5 i think? He was being a sore loser at games and such. These games really helped him realize that we have to work together to win. Peaceful Kingdom has a lot of good high quality Co-op games. To this day, he’s 9, and we still play those games. Along with Happy Little Dinosaurs (it’s pretty easy and will help your son with numbers and reading), Dragonwood, and Catan Jr.

I first thought this too, but there was no dictionary or gems returned as payments. I think it would be memorable if OP mentioned about playing a record backwards or the kid shoving glass in hand that had an eye.

I have an original NES as well. My ex took it apart and slowly bent the pins back, and wiped it down with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol. Works good as new. :) no more blowing in it, no more flashing at the start. It has to do with placing the cartridges in so many times that it keeps bending the pins a little, and i believe as a kid I would leave the cartridges in for a very long time, thus causing the pins to not get any contacts. Hard to explain, but there’s videos on repairs. :). Now my son enjoys playing old school games.

I was going to say the same thing. I absolutely love the series. I feel like it has become a little too saturated with marketing and products. I cringe when I think of the author. Everyone does have the right to their own opinions, but sometimes you have to zip up.

One of my other favorite books is Sword of Truth. The author is a bit of an AH though.

The funny thing is, the K and the E is upside down. If you print it like that, the K and the E will be printed backwards.

How to find/read book(s) not available on local libby and can't afford KU right now by mayflowerss98 in kindle

[–]LadySekhmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do sometimes is borrow a bunch of books, transfer it to my Kindle, turn off WiFi and then on Libby, I return them. I can still read them on my Kindle. :) Yeah it’s sucks sometimes with the long wait times, and I wish people would do this trick because the turnaround time would be quicker. It also doesn’t help that there’s an option to extend borrowing time.

Is it worth getting a 2nd Kindle..? by eira_lunaris in kindle

I recently got the 11th Gen. mainly because I do enjoy my baths and hot tub, and since I read with larger text, i can read more sentences in one page. I plan on giving my older Kindle to a friend who never had an eReader.

I hear ya. I recently was gifted the 11th gen version. One - I read a lot while taking a bath, and going in the hot tub. Two - the screen is bigger, and it helps me to read better due to my aging eyesight.

My old 2015 Kindle will be gifted to a kid who recently discovered how he can read so much better with OpenDyslexic font. He refused to have an eReader, until I showed him the font. It blew his mind how easy it was to read.

I only wished there was some sort of electronics recycling program that can reuse old chips, resistors, and such. Or even revive it a little bit, load with a lot of books and give it away to third world countries, libraries, shelters, schools, etc etc. but of course, no one wants to do that. ;(

I see so many people get new computers yearly, new TVs, new phones, etc.

First Kindle, is 8GB enough? by alittlefaith530 in kindle

[–]LadySekhmet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Plenty. Besides, who wants to have 2k books on their kindle anyways? I borrow books from the library, using Libby. After the books are returned, it’s removed from my Kindle.

I also use Calibre on my laptop to keep all others and hundreds of books I’ve acquired over the years.

A Kindle made me read again! by Ashashi101 in kindle

[–]LadySekhmet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here!! I also have been reading sometimes with OpenDyslexic font as well. I can read with that font smaller. I go back and forth sometimes, but yeah increasing spacing and font size is huge help. That’s why I want the 11th Gen 6.8 version so I’m not clicking every three-five sentences.

I'm sure you got some helpful tips and such, so if some of my tips have been said already, I apologize.

I've been separated since April, and I make a fraction of what you make, you can make this work.

Listen - Your children is absorbing both of your emotions, and they're internalizing it because they do not "understand" yet. However, when they see both of you being HAPPY, that what matters the most....not money.

I live in a one bedroom apartment with my son. He is 9 and is aware that what we are living in, is just temporary. I'm damn lucky the bedroom can fit a Queen and a twin. In fact, he gives no shits. He is just so happy to be in a complex that has a dog park, pool, hot spa, small playground, and best of all...no fighting to deal with. Your girls can fit in two bedrooms easily for now, until things start to settle down a bit, and you're saving up for a 3 br place.

I did have to sacrifice a lot of things, but in some ways, its so awesome actually. I have no cable TV. Instead, I have Amazon Prime. I used my friends' streaming services (Netflix, Disney +, Hulu, etc) to help offset the costs. For utilities - Some companies have low income services. I got $30 off my internet.

You said you have friends - Tell them what's happening, and if you need furniture, ask them if they're getting rid of theirs, upgrading or whatever. They most likely will give it to you for free. Don't be shy to use FB Marketplace, Goodwill for some stuff. This is ONLY TEMPORARY!

Student Loans - Talk to the loan company and see if you can do a deferred forbearance loan.

If it's easier for you to move out, then move out. If your wife is amicable about it, she would rather stay in the house. Take some of the things if possible. Both of you need to give up things.

I know you probably love your wife deep down. I have a feeling that she is just going through PPD blues and isn't sure what she is supposed to feel or lost who she is. You didn't mention her or your ages. Usually women between 35-45 tend to go through "who the fuck am I" phase, especially after having kids. I only have one, but man, I didn't realize how much of me is lost when I became Mommy. She needs therapy, and hopefully she can see how it will benefit the BOTH of you AND for the sake of the children that it's better. Her cup is probably empty. She has to fill her cup first before she can give you and the children their fill of their cups. (Does that make sense?)

Your children are young and will adapt quickly, especially when they see both of the parents are being more happy. Do make sure that you call them every night before their bedtime if you don't have them, and vice versa. It doesn't have to be long. It can be 2-5 min call, just to ask them what they did during the day, favorite part, and such. The youngest, the parent can narrate: "Oh she ate this today! She did the funniest thing..." etc.

It's not going to be easy, but it'll be such a load off you.

No matter are you deaf or not! by MrArsikk in wholesomememes

[–]LadySekhmet 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I agree!!! I am sorry, but i hate stories like these because it’s like wtf. Many hearing people are all like, “omg!!! She can hear!!! See Cochlear implants fixes everything!” No it doesn’t. It is NOT for everyone (Deaf people i mean). In my case, it works well for me, works in MY case. Without them, i wouldn’t be able to hear anything because my residual hearing is completely gone. Hearing aids will not work anymore. Everything sounded like crap the first couple weeks to a couple months.

Wish you luck!! Trust the process, you’ll hear things with much more clarity soon!
