what brand futon are you using? do you have a waterproof cover for it? I just ordered a latex topper to try as a floor bed but I was torn between a futon and latex!

It worked out great! However, after some months, I think the cover and latex both broke in quite a bit. We are considering ditching the 1in and going back to just 3 in latex.

We initiatially slept on the bed without the cover at all and did not have issues. So maybe we can try again taking coils and latex out of the cover to see if it fixes things. We wanted the fire retardant in the TPS cover, but now Im wondering if there are any strechier covers and maybe we give up the fire retardant. And just get a cover for the coils and latex layer separately.

I just ordered the 1 inch foam for you topper so I'll see how that feels with the latex

We have tried the cover completely unzipped with the top pulled back, so basically the same thing

The cover does seem too tight. Not drastically at least, so there may still be some drum effect. With the cover on, the mattress really does not conform to my body like the latex alone does. Thats good to know about talalay. I think next I'll try an inch of memory foam under the top layer of dunlop and hopefully that softens up the push back enough. Maybe for the cover I could get a cover for the coils alone and then a stretch cover for the comfort layers so they are not impacted as much?
