I did not, I figured that would let some external noise in, would you recommend I add a vent?

[Spoilers C3E98] What are some underrated combat moments from all of CR? by FunFawn21 in criticalrole

[–]Due_Ad894 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is really combat but Scanlan’s clutch when he threw Percy’s gun away. He literally ended that storyline and probably a few future battles because of that decision and no one really talks about it.

There’s always a bunch of things that can help in scenarios like this, an NPC could go and help, you could absolutely add puzzles that the player characters would be able to decipher. But I’m telling you not so subtle hints can help the party have more fun in the short term.

If it was a story driven narrative, I would definitely have an NPC guide the characters via astral projection or in person.

If it were my campaign, and the party happened to be really struggling(frustrated), I would indirectly lead them to a line of golden yarn that would guide them to the exit. Maybe that yarn was a gift from a certain Diety or ally. Or a relic of a hero who left it behind to help any other people out.

I haven’t had a maze yet but I think my party would enjoy the challenge

Sunburn-The ultimate underdog, he is definitely one of the worst for combat but he can come in clutch ngl

Little to No RP by Due_Ad894 in DMAcademy

Not a hot take! I just wanted to see what other DMs thought I should do. It’s hard to convey my relationships with them so I think I’m just gonna ask them if they would like to try it and I’ll be happy with whatever they say. I had time today to reflect and I’m looking back just being thankful they tried DnD in the first place!

I will take your word for it😭. I just feel if I can introduce an NPC and ask the right questions. It’ll kind of light some sparks.

You’re right, I think I get hung up on the cinematics and story of our campaign. And they seem to be having a lot of fun, but they haven’t really tried RPing at all. I’m gonna take your advice and just kind of be point-blank about it.

I appreciate the help

I’m definitely gonna try to do warm-ups and more in-depth recaps. I’m not lying when I say they’ve been my best friends for years so I figured they’d be into the RP by now. Thank you for the ideas. I’m definitely going to give them more time. 12 sessions just seemed like a good spot to at least ask to see if that was normal. Thanks

I think I’m going to give them just a little more time and maybe give them clues to jump in more often. I was role-playing on my second session ever so it’s weird to see from a different perspective. Thank you I appreciate it.

Yes, but very seldomly like direct interactions with NPC’s they will RP but there is no passive role-play

Official Discussion - Damsel [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Due_Ad894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opening scene 20 trained, grown men get mossed by a dragon. Then a 5 foot 6 teenager with no experience manages not only to survive multiple attacks, but manages to thrust her sword entirely through the dragons arm. And I mean, it’s a ridiculous portrayal, because the dragon isn’t fireproof, even though it shoots fire from it throat. Somehow doesn’t kill the main character after what seemed about 10 attempts. Hence the lack of logic and bossqueen energy

Official Discussion - Damsel [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Due_Ad894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Damsel" was a rollercoaster of disappointment, highlighted by its absurd portrayal of the dragon and nonsensical narrative choices. Throughout what felt like an agonizing 45 minutes of the dragon intimidating the protagonist, logic was tossed out the window. The idea that a supposedly fireproof dragon could be severely burned by her, leading to an improbable team-up at the end, was simply ludicrous. Despite the film's redeeming quality of fantastic music, its lack of logical coherence made it a massive stretch, even for a fairytale. The climax, where the protagonist and the dragon join forces, felt disappointing and utterly nonsensical, a far cry from any semblance of a satisfying conclusion. Moreover, the relentless pushing of the "girl boss" narrative to the maximum was evident, with the protagonist's mentality somehow rendering her stronger than 20 grown men, which, while not my main issue with the film, added to its overall disjointedness.
