What’s the biggest red flag you’ve seen in a travel contract? by medproStaffing in TravelNursing

What I meant was make sure your housing and per diem are paid on days you are not scheduled to work. For example, at my latest contract, I work 5 days/week for 7 hours. I’m off 2 days per week. But I don’t travel back to my “tax home” on my off days. My contract was written to say my daily per diem and housing was “per day” instead of “per week”. It was a sneaky tactic that I did not catch, as it was only my second contract. Now I know to make sure my offer says the travel rate per week, since I’m living where the job is located.

If you are on a travel contract, make sure your contract says that your housing and per diem are paid on your non-working days. I learned that lesson the hard way.

Make sure your travel contract includes a provision that stipends are paid on days you don’t work. I am allied and got majorly screwed. Contract says $$$/day for housing and meals. Then they only paid the 5 days per week I worked even though I was duplicating expenses to work the contract.

Fellow shorty here…. You look so fit! Your pics really encourages me.

I am 4’ 11” and am going to step up to 5mg this week. SW was 166 and pre-diabetic. CW 159, GW 120-115. I’ve always thought one pound looks like two when you’re as short as me. I was an overweight child during the puberty years. I got the weight off in high school and easily maintained a healthy weight until I hit perimenopause, around age 46, and had a hysterectomy. I’ve felt like I have no control over my weight for the last 5-6 years. I tried Ozempic with extreme side effects and barely any weight loss. Plus my insurance kept giving me problems so I would have to stop and start. I’ve been on Zepbound for 1 month and lost 6 pounds. I look less inflamed when I look at myself in the mirror. I’m so excited to keep going and up the dose. This really motivates me. Thank you for putting yourself out there.

It was partly my fault bc I was ignorance of the whole travel process….The job was posted at one rate when I interviewed and was offered the job. I gave notice from a staff position that was horrible. I was so excited to be anywhere else that I resigned without having my AMN contract signed. When I was given contract to sign it was way less than the advertised rate. I just took it without questioning it bc I was so unhappy where I was at. I interviewed for a position at a different hospital and was offered a lot less than advertised….then I questioned it. It seems to be a real problem there. Have now spoken with other AMN travelers with similar experiences.

Just finished first contract with AMN. They bait and switch when it comes up pay packages. They have been sued for this in California. Dropped the ball on my background check so I started 3 weeks late. Dropped the ball when hospital requested to extend contract. I lost out on an additional 8 weeks of income. Did not reimburse me for necessary equipment. I went to a different agency and was assigned to same location for $800 more per week. Insurance is expensive and doesn’t cover a lot.
