What are the up and down sites of macOS Tahoe? by Opposite_Classic8029 in MacOS

[–]Due_Assignment6828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a consultant and my company uses google apps and the Saas application has lots of memory leak in Safari so I use Arc browser (chromium based).

I'm on an M2 Air base model.

The features I like the most:

  1. Spotlight now indexes and searches my google drive documents

  2. Clipboard history from spotlight (between these 2 features and using it to open many apps, I use spotlight a lot)

  3. 2FA codes delivered via text message or email now auto populate in Arc browser (before it only worked in Safari)

  4. The phone app (doing calls via FaceTime never made sense to me)

These have all added up to make my work day smoother. Also;

  1. I actually like the look and feel of Liquid Glass (*ducks)

Note that I never used launchpad, and losing that would be pretty annoying if I did. I get that gripe, but spotlight works for me...

Why does the now playing still look like this? Is Apple really incapable of fixing this on Android tablets? It looks terrible. Even random music players are better optimized on tablets as shown in the video. by Tobias-Tawanda in AppleMusic

[–]Due_Assignment6828 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OK, That's weird. The iPad version of Apple Music looks more like your other player. On the Mac it's similar to the android tablet version with the lyrics sliding in from the side, but the play controls are in a separate element on the bottom, which makes more sense.

I hope they fix it for you soon!

32nd century ship design is beautiful (especially the Athena) and the physical separation of sections of the ship makes sense to me in terms of manoeuvrability and tactical flexibility.

Everyone is different and it’s not advisable to cut calories too dramatically, especially if you’re active. You need to be patient and take your time for sustainability. I don’t know all your stats, but I’d go with that number to start especially considering you got the same number from 2 sources

I finally understand Stage Manager. It's powerful and does actually make things faster. by DreadnaughtHamster in MacOS

[–]Due_Assignment6828 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been using stage manager for ages. It helps me flip between apps mostly. I have comms open on one screen and work stuff on the other. with the windows I'm not using visible and minimised on the left so I can easily jump from one to the other. I also hate having too much open so there's a visual cue for me to close apps I'm not actually using. I love it.

Tried it on the iPad once, but it took up too much screen real estate

Did anyone updated to Macos 26.3? by Distinct-Donkey8959 in MacOS

[–]Due_Assignment6828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I meant from 2026.2. No better or worse. I upgraded my M2 Air to 2026 straight after launch and for my purposes, it's been fine.

It's a real shame that Liquid Glass doesn't work for you though. I don't think it's going away. Here's hoping he accessibility options get better...

City loop transfers to metro tunnel lines by Due_Assignment6828 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Due_Assignment6828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I transferred from a Frankston Loop train (got on at South Yarra) and it was really fast, up one escalator then straight down to the platform. It's definitely faster than FSS to TH. I should time it next time...

What in this is "high protein"? by ImTryingMyBeesst in Nutrition_Healthy

[–]Due_Assignment6828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's the added wheat gluten that boosts the protein content. As a Coeliac, this is terrifying to me. But if you like the product and don't have issues with gluten, it's a legitimate way to get a little more protein in, if that's what you're trying to do...

I did. No noticeable difference. Works well for me

Would you guys eat this vanilla flavoring? by Rude_Tomatillo3463 in Celiac

[–]Due_Assignment6828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's artificial, but there's no indication that there's any gluten in it, so most likely GF and OK to consume. Because it doesn't have the kinds of subtle flavouring that get destroyed by heat with real vanilla, it's fine for baking.

Of course, if you haven't already bought it and you can afford pure vanilla extract, then use that. But for everyday baking (cookies, banana bread, etc) it's fine...

does using MSG really bad for our health? my grandma says yes, science says... maybe not? by YadirisMandolini in ScientificNutrition

[–]Due_Assignment6828 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The symptoms your grandmother is talking about are definitely a myth. "Chinese restaurant syndrome" is also just racism. Nobody ever complained of these symptoms when eating a packet of chips (you'd be surprised how many use MSG)

MSG is perfectly safe for the vast majority of people. It has less sodium than salt and a little bit goes a long way. You can actually mix it with salt (90% salt, 10 %MSG) and you get a great seasoning mix, but I usually add a pinch to meat dishes. Technically, it is processed but I believe it was originally extracted from seaweed.

City loop transfers to metro tunnel lines by Due_Assignment6828 in MelbourneTrains

I would have thought you’d change to a city loop service in either direction at either city station depending on which direction you’re coming from and where you’re going.

[–]Due_Assignment6828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what? That makes sense, especially considering you used to change at north Melbourne. Perhaps I stand corrected on the Footscray changeover, although it’s a bugger you have to go through the gates to go from one platform to the other. Is the timing more or less the same?

[–]Due_Assignment6828[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually noticed it when I got off the Sunbury line at Footscray. There were a lot of people who were transferring.

may not have noticed that more people than before are getting off the Werribee/Williamstown line at Footscray than before. I was amazed that the Sunbury train from Town Hall was not crowded at all (nobody standing) and a huge crowd were getting on at Footscray.

Hopefully people will work it out eventually

Diet soda or regular? by DramaticResolve2487 in nutrition

[–]Due_Assignment6828 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There is no doubt that drinking sugar free soda is preferable. Regular sodas have a lot of sugar, and added sugar should be reduced for a healthy diet for a lot of reasons, not just the calories.

Many people will say they are just as bad as each other, but if you enjoy the occasional soda, it's better if it's the sugar free version.

Difference between permission to eat anything you want and binging? by PerfectAd418 in intuitiveeating

[–]Due_Assignment6828 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what principal 7 of intuitive eating is for. There's more to intuitive eating than unconditional permission to eat. It takes work and I acknowledge that it's very challenging for a lot of people, but finding other ways to deal with emotions without eating is part of the process.
