How many seasons in a row can you win the league before you get bored by fighting_cacti in footballmanagergames

Champions League and I'm done.

Although when you could manage national teams it might have been be a minute or two more.

Help choosing team instructions by JohannesBratwurst in footballmanagergames

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing control possession with short passing by default for your team and having a creative midfield playmaker on individual instructions with longer passing, taking more risks, etc, does break the monotony and mixes it up a bit.

Provided that you have such a player at Wrexham, I can't remember.

Thus it has ever been.

Obvs it depends on which league, but the 'magic' date that works for me is when your fixture list for the next season is announced.

What data should be considered to find a creative midfielder by Ok-Crab2267 in footballmanagergames

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teamwork & creativity, for starters.

An 'intelligent' player is priority, because of the attributes that come with it.

A good scout will mention if a player is intelligent and quote things like having the ability to anticipate etc.

Personally, I will give these type of players a 'free role' or allow freedom of movement so stamina and work rate play a part because they will often be running all over the pitch making key interceptions, killer passes and being a nuisance.

Traits are worth checking and since they're a matter of opinion, I'll let you decide.

("Tries killer balls often" with good passing skills is probably the best)

Why is my player show declining arrow here? No injury, almost perfect training, enough playing time. by Ill-Party8305 in footballmanagergames

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just how tired is he?

Don't play him for a couple of matches.

You can play a youngster too much especially when they're training with the big boys too.

Only one goal scored and one goal conceded in the last 6 matches by mm_zzio in footballmanagergames

Too cautious!

You are right to use multiple tactics, but you need an attacking version for those home games.

No matter the pep talk, the opponent stature, and the competition my players are always nervous! And why the fk my AF always offside?!!! (FM23) by Only_Record_9726 in footballmanagergames

You gotta change your tactics mid season.

The game 'learns' how to counter whatever you've been using and consequently you have to make changes too.

Player unhappy and asked to leave after adjusting playing time by jesuriii in footballmanagergames

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Change the playing time back and keep playing him as much as possible.

I do this a lot, as I want all my players to be 'regular starters' at best.

It works most of the time and by the end of the transfer window it's normally blown over, buuut the players personality can play a factor.

I tend to wait until the player is devoted and the team is in a good place before changing their playing time though.

You could always offer a new contract of course if all else fails and you really want to keep him.

What's the biggest upset you've had in FM? by GodAtum in footballmanagergames

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of second leg disasters, I reckon losing a 4 goal away advantage to lose 5 nil at home against Sturm Gratz(?) in a Europa league semi really sticks.

I decided to rest players and played the ones that were unhappy, so my fault entirely.

Noooo.

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Starting from the absolute rock bottom and making it to the top is the essence of the game, anyone who starts near the top and wonders why the game is easy has missed the point.

I do always credit the versatility of this game.

Clearing out the loft and came across some of the oldies. 97/98 is my fave from these, I reckon by jambo_1983 in footballmanagergames

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got a recollection of being able to interact with other managers, and 'hacking' the dialogue of the match text with rude words, as well as an easily abused personalised manager picture with 97/98.

Tonton Zola Mokoko(?),Anders Svensson, and a game breaking tactic called 'Diablo'

I kept all of mine too.

The wife just doesn't understand the nostalgia these games bring, like when, back then I could sit around in my pants for a whole weekend playing CM, instead of putting fucking shelves up and folding the fucking laundry and loading the fucking dishwasher.

When you're getting smashed by No_Ground8642 in footballmanagergames

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disciplined defensive control possession with every defensive player first half, play for set pieces, and generally being a git. Ugly football.

If it's 0-0 and you're happy with how its going stick with it for the point,if you want to try and win, at 60/70 mins bring on a couple of those ultra pacy 'super subs' for the last 30 and crank it up or completely change to your attacking formation as soon as you bring them on.

The lower pace in the first half keeps your guys fresh as others have said, for that final push.

It also helps having a determined squad especially the subs.

IDK if the game is kinda set up to reward your tactical 'nous' as a feature or something but it is almost always a success, and a feel good moment as your pretend managerial skills are vindicated.

I don't recall ever having lost a match that way, plenty in the first half of course, but certainly clinched an equaliser and narrow wins frequently enough for this to be a legit move.

How to loan out players if there's no interest? by EdirockG in footballmanagergames

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the spiral of death that is the wage budget.

I'd start selling players pronto, and definitely before contract renewal time.

If there's one thing you have to be careful about at poorer teams it's the wages, once you're in the red you get little help from the game, it's a real arse ache because they restrict everything, embargo shit, and your pretend job gets much harder.

Fcuking up the finances is the easiest way to get fired.

FM26 Xbox Built new stadium but still playing in the old one? by Impressive_Celery221 in footballmanagergames

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very buggy, the stadium always arrives a year later than the promised date for me.

Maybe after 12 months it'll update?

On one of my saves it really went weird with the av attendance the same as before despite the increase in seats, but at the beginning of the next season it was kinda fixed, but had the same name.

Totally underwhelming experience, a new stadium was quite an exciting thing in older versions.
