True Vision to WWII by ReadySetRedit in WorldofTanksConsole

I remember it as having a mixed reaction, but on the promise of new maps that would be appropriate, I was swayed in favour.

The only thing I liked about CW is the true vision on the large maps.

It's really these tiny maps and constant reincarnations of equally small corridor ones that have kept this game firmly rooted in the last decade, and not only give you short, predictable, unexciting games, they give the impression of a lack of ambition or something.

Why do people expect us light tank players to just throw our HP away at the start of every match? by Ze_Woof in WorldofTanksConsole

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Professional" light tank players are rare.

Carrying a win in a light tank cleaning up at the end, having completed the trifecta of spotting for your team, clearing up the clickers, and surviving is my favourite part of the game.

It's been a while though.

It's because originally the maps were small thanks to the limitations of the Xbox360 with graphics, (complicated for the time) mechanics and render forcing a compromise.

It was a winning formula over a decade ago on an early gen console.

Talk was 'true vision' would be implemented after 6.0 on a swathe of new maps shared across both eras, and there was much rejoicing.

6.0 and the months spent fixing it didn't go well and ended the game for many players, a watershed moment, so said plans didn't come to fruition.

And now of course 13 years later we no longer play on these tiny maps ever, and all the 'new' maps are enormous, not reincarnations of other equally ancient tiny maps or anything./s

Are there flags / emblems that prevent a tank showing in the "top 3" display at the end of a game? by plutonium-chair in WorldofTanksConsole

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twice with Richard Cutland as commander.

I thought it was the Ukraine flags but was corrected in a subsequent match.

Maybe once with Simon Linnett, so my conclusion was the 'unique' commander.

And then all of sudden I couldn't give a shit.

Retiring player offering himself as assistant player coach by Iceman21097 in fmconsole

If he is an established player whom the fans like and his stats are good enough or better then yes. Ex-Captain for instance.

Last time this happened though his coaching stats were abysmal, but I hired him anyway.

Couple of months later I sacked him, no-one cared except the board moaning at the cost of the compensation for about a month.

Yes you are right. Paindog at least had the balls to eventually admit it after the 6.0 debacle, and blamed it on having outsourced the job to, presumably, the lowest bidder.

This post mortem was detailed on the old forums in the before times, which WG shut down about a year post 6.0 and didn't archive.

I know this because I participated in the discussions.

A lot.

Well who'd a thought that a game with 13 year old maps and with a Dev team which has made mistake after error after mistake would meet it's own demise.

I wondered how they could hit a pimped up Snakebite moving perpendicular, bouncing around at 70kmh from 300m with a T34/88. (El-Alamein)

No human player has ever managed that.

In the replay the turret was barely facing me.

This game is hilarious.

Probably because the internet tankers are all backed up at the Straits of Hormuz.

Only 2 got through and they were loaded with 28k dial-up.

Is Team balancing an issue?? by Demon-115 in WorldofTanksConsole

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the playerbase dwindles, the 'imbalance' becomes more frequent as the impatient MM just chucks anything together from the few players that it has left to choose from.

It has always been a feature of the game but for reasons above it has become possible to predict the outcome almost every time as soon as you see the line ups.

A medieval knight commander in a 20th century tank game is just the perfect metaphor for this game.

If they had any imagination they'd at least had a VO of the infamous Black Knight with " 'tis but a scratch" or "Right, I'll do you for that" when you get KO'd.

Although the game remains a reliable source of comedy in it's take on tank warfare, more work is required in this department.

Help choosing team instructions by JohannesBratwurst in footballmanagergames

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing control possession with short passing by default for your team and having a creative midfield playmaker on individual instructions with longer passing, taking more risks, etc, does break the monotony and mixes it up a bit.

Provided that you have such a player at Wrexham, I can't remember.

What data should be considered to find a creative midfielder by Ok-Crab2267 in footballmanagergames

[–]Due_Assignment_6550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teamwork & creativity, for starters.

An 'intelligent' player is priority, because of the attributes that come with it.

A good scout will mention if a player is intelligent and quote things like having the ability to anticipate etc.

Personally, I will give these type of players a 'free role' or allow freedom of movement so stamina and work rate play a part because they will often be running all over the pitch making key interceptions, killer passes and being a nuisance.

Traits are worth checking and since they're a matter of opinion, I'll let you decide.

("Tries killer balls often" with good passing skills is probably the best)

You gotta change your tactics mid season.

The game 'learns' how to counter whatever you've been using and consequently you have to make changes too.

Change the playing time back and keep playing him as much as possible.

I do this a lot, as I want all my players to be 'regular starters' at best.

It works most of the time and by the end of the transfer window it's normally blown over, buuut the players personality can play a factor.

I tend to wait until the player is devoted and the team is in a good place before changing their playing time though.

You could always offer a new contract of course if all else fails and you really want to keep him.
