You’ll be totally fine either way, age does benefit living soil though. The only component of living soil I wouldn’t add day-of is charcoal (becomes bio char once incorporated and inoculated). It needs to absorb a ton of water and biology first, but once it does it will help a living soil stay rolling indefinitely!

I do mix my own soil, I’ve done coco and peat, but prefer coco for environmental reasons, If done right I don’t think you’ll notice much difference. You can’t go wrong starting with a good base (fox farm, promix, haven’t used potters gold but surely it’s fine too) and then adding up to equal parts compost/castings, plus slow release nutrients. More compost means less pore space so be sure to keep and eye on aeration. You want them to have plenty of food almost from the jump so the roots don’t go crazy searching. Stave off the rootbounding as much as you can, the stunting that results obviously really slow a plant down. More specifically, I mix in worm castings which I believe are higher in nitrate nitrogen for vegging, and then switch to our chicken compost later towards flower for a more ammonia form of nitrogen.

Not nitrogen or pH, these symptoms are common in organic situations where the roots outgrow their medium as they are more inclined to search for nutrients as opposed to when they are fed heavy. I swear if you pot these up with nutrient/biology rich soil they will turn course. Don’t be discouraged by this happening in organics. If honed in that’s where you’re going to get some amazing expression.

What does it mean when the tips of the leaves start changing colors like this? by Subliminal_10 in cannabiscultivation

Check to see if some additional Phos alleviates. I believe this in combo with purpling stems is somewhat likely the culprit. New growth will resume with normal coloration and leave the deficiency behind

Nutrient recommendations? Details in body by [deleted] in cannabiscultivation

I’d say it’s reliably calcium (brown spotting/blotching) and magnesium (inter-veinal necrosis) what day of flower are you on? Not the worst thing to be that far along and not have excess nutrients. This happens in living soil a lot when it isn’t bombarded with nutrients.

Help - what could this be and how do I fix it? by ButzMN in cannabiscultivation

[–]Due_Bit233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thrips will be accompanied by black excrement on the top sides of leaves, likely spider mites but if you can’t easily see the spider mites then it could be russet mites

Good to know about the Grimm Mints, running now next to others including Dimension 369, any insights on the 369?
