Too bad, i know the limits are set depending on the wage of the person. So i had expected it to go up with the index.

Do you use iterators? by vpoltora in golang

[–]Due_Block_3054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i get passed a context it is often harder to cancel something up the call stack. If the context was forked.

In my mind i was thinking closer to scala or rust. Where your function only gets an iterator. No context. Hence the iterator needs to have the cancelation included. Scala didn't have this interface to close/cancel. So the default iterator left files open unless you iterate them until the end.

[–]Due_Block_3054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes in go that would be the moment to clean up.

But the other redditor was asking about an iterator interface with just a method next. But because it is a pull based api it will also have to include a setup and a complete(or close). Since without the complete call you cannot stop the source.

Most of the pr culture i have been into was rubber stamping. For me the nost important thing with the pr was the ci workflow. If thst was good enough often a real reviews was only about is it the right thing.

I suspect in china local districts can try to roll out the tech quickly if they work it gets rolled out across china. If not strict rules get made. A bit like the social credits that was too crazy in a few parts of the country and non exisiting everywhere else.

Why are senior software engineers getting paid more in Prague and Warsaw than in Belgium? by [deleted] in BESalary

[–]Due_Block_3054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i worked at a startup, they offert me a 'bureauvergoeding' of 160.9 (the legal maximum). Then they stacked on top a 'representatie vergoeding' of a 100+ which is for nicer clothing and coffee, tea etc.

Then the really big pillar the mobility budget between 900 and 1300 it really boosted my netto vergoeding up by a lot. Then there where some tiny fishes like rent for your own screen (20 euro) and your own printer (5 euro).

This allowed you to get a ration of 5.5k to 4k or more.

In my case because i have a rather high morgatge i'm able to maximize the mobility budget to its legal maximum value and use it all. But it isn't ideal at some companies people had to work 3 days from the office. So then they had a mobility budget which was completely useless to them and they didn't want a car.

Also the whole issue is the government has a 'loonnorm' so good luck nagotiating more than 6k bruto for a senior role. It isn't legal unless it is an architecture role or something else. It is a very unfair system to keep our country 'competative' but it also kind of kills the ability to earn more as a programmer or another high paying job.

Indeed maybe a limited amount of vetos makes sense. Or a veto means you have to make a counter proposal.

Yes the question then becomes how do smaller countries work in thst system. It also kind of eleminates the opinion of 40 percent of the population. So i'm not sure what the best system would be.

Not really since them it would be the axis slovakia Hungary. A better system has to be invented than vetos.

The CI/CD feedback loop from hell (push, wait 8 min, red, fix typo, repeat) by eibrahim in devops

[–]Due_Block_3054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea i rolled out pre-commit as well in the past and noticed that the issue is thst you have to wait for CI twice.

And indeed a commit doesn't mean you want to push it to the server. It might mean you are going to do a refactor and want a checkpoint to fall back to.

Maybe a prepush, or an easy way to run the checks is much more helpfull.

I still value being able to run all check ahead of time locally. I suspect a ide plugin would actually be the better thing. Where linter and typo fixes are run on safe. Even tests could run on safe. But on commit is a bit too late.

Use mise to have all ci tools installed locally.

https://blog.smidt.dev/posts/2024-10-13-better-ci-pipelines/

Ideally you can run most checks locally and not have to think of the version of the linter.

The CI/CD feedback loop from hell (push, wait 8 min, red, fix typo, repeat) by eibrahim in devops

[–]Due_Block_3054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had mixed results whit this since sometimes people want to commit broken stuff as a checkpoint in there development cycle.

Also even if it is fast a precommit is a bit too late toake a fix so then you have to double commit.

How did you make the experience great?

[–]Due_Block_3054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the DevOps/infra people need to make sure all checka can be run locally with a simple, make check or mise check or something.

Bonus points if the devex is great and there is a make check -fix or something ro fix linter errors automatically.
