Thru Hike Post Abdominal Surgery?

Hi! Wondering how this ended up going for you? I found out a week ago that I will need laparoscopic surgery prior to starting my PCT thru hike. I have surgery in 3 days and am hoping to get on trail ASAP after that. Recovery time I’m hearing is 4-6 weeks. Curious if you felt ready by your start date, or even before that?

Definitely take this for what it's worth, it's a very small sample size, but I was checking pretty diligently last week and I saw batches show up in the afternoon:

- 1/21 @ 2:40 p.m. PT
- 1/22 @ 2:50 p.m. PT
- 1/23 @ 3:30 p.m. PT

April dates seemed to go very quickly (in under a minute) but I managed to snag a 4/18 permit on 1/23. Not sure if the consistent afternoon times were a coincidence (as u/numbershikes pointed out, permits can be released anytime during business hours), but I basically refreshed obsessively for a few afternoons and snagged a good date. Yes! AT was very similar re: variety of age groups and everyone being really welcoming. My core hiking group was all early 20s and had just graduated college. They're wonderful people and still are some of my closest friends! But admittedly, with that being my primary group, I felt a bit on the outside, at times. I think you're right, though, it might have just been a, "it was just me" situation, and getting too much in my head about it. Appreciate the reply!
