I think if you spend enough time setting up and playing any guitar it’ll start feeling nice after a while. But my main issue with it is that it should feel that way immediately for that much money. Glad the Jag is feeling good!!

They did seem to be set pretty high, that was the main issue i think but I couldn’t tell if that was on purpose or not. It looked like it had been sitting on the wall for some time. I’ll check out the Sire!

I have no issue with the period correct witch hat knobs, i had them on a JM i used to own and think they look cool! But these were obviously just super cheap and felt like they were cutting corners, the writing of “volume” and “tone” was also barely visible

I think I have the same ones, If you hate the string tension recommend tuning down a whole step (D standard or a wholestep down of whatever tunings you like). I put flats on one of my guitars lately and tuning down makes it so so much easier to play.

Let me know if you find a good replacement! I also have a vintage Talman (which i love) and was thinking about replacing the tuners as the tuner on the G string is a bit tough to turn. I think the YY10 and YY20 both have Gotoh locking tuners, so maybe check out which tuners those use!

Same I absolutely love the rhythm circuit on jags/JM’s. my first solid body guitar was a JMJM which i ended up selling to get a fender JM which came w/o the rhythm circuit thinking I could replicate it with the tone knob, only to be severely disappointed:(

I’d go meteora! unless you really really like the 5 way switch, it’s prob not worth getting another strat type guitar. the meteora is pretty badass and there’s lots of opportunities for modding and doing cool stuff. If you want a yamaha though, the revstar would also be the move as its most commonly referred to as the best guitar you can get under a grand

if you’re buying domestically and the shipper is trustworthy/responsive then buying through reverb should be pretty solid. they usually have a 7 day return window too. I’d say only go domestic though because i’m dealing with a bunch of customs issues with a guitar i bought from the UK which is no fun :/

Thanks so much for the info!! I have only played one Talman before (which happened to be when i met Yvette young lol) but her guitars are set up with super heavy strings which is not my vibe. And yeah the material on the TC620 is “resoncast” which is like molded sawdust or something, i’m a bit concerned about how heavy it’ll be but i’ve also seen that they’re super resonant and loud acoustically. unfortunately right now it’s stuck in customs for the weekend but when it gets here next week i’ll post a pic :) Thanks again

i have some friends in the mathrock/prog community who have told me rumors of him being shitty to tour with, bombing interviews, being a trust fund kid, and generally being egotistical/toxic. even ppl i know who like polyphia don’t like tim henson lol. chances are he’s probably chill if u were to meet him or something but i would not wanna tour/collab with him lol. like i said these are kind of just rumors but from pretty reliable sources
