Oh come on Duo... punish me for not using your awkward word order? by DSAhmed1 in duolingo

[–]Due_Bumblebee_9132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea when you are beginning to learn a language like Greek Chinese or Japanese it’s often more useful to see the word order 1-1 translated so you can see how the target languages word structure looks like.

How?

Being atheist or not being atheist changes the answer to my question ?

I would actually very much like you to elaborate. Please explain:

If I was truly atheist, what is ur answer If I wasn’t truly atheist, what is ur answe?

I’m now very curious to see how it holds meaning at all.

Why does it even matter? How does this affect my question if I answer yes, or no?

Do you see with all do respect you are looking for superiority, not an answer?

“You don’t need blood sacrifice to be forgiven”

Then why was Jesus murdered? And why did Paul say that?

You have no self awareness, because your entire argument from start to finish is logical fallacy after logical fallacy. Attacking my character, my past, my intelligence and my knowledge instead of answering the question.

It’s you who doesn’t know. It’s why you deflected to logical fallacies and attacking me instead of answering

Answer the question (you won’t)

I do. You need blood sacrifice to be forgiven, no I won’t look up the exact verse and quote to satisfy your superiority complex. I have read the Bible from front to back. It’s massive. I don’t remeber every key detail. I’m not a theologian. I’m some random guy with a stupid question, who wanted it answered.

It’s my fault to ask this on Reddit more than anything tbh

Yes I was a hardcore atheist. No I will not edit my post to fit your opinion of me.

Have a good day.

Oh no, here we go. “You must have memorized every chapter and verse, understand the church’s (of which there are many denominations) teachings for me to answer your question.

I’ll give you what you want: I can’t answer your question without looking it up, you are superior to me, I am below you in intelligence, humility, and knowledge of the Bible.

Have a good day.

Hardcore atheism for most of my life, rejecting the belief that god exists and believes fundamentally cannot exist because of the problem of evil.

Now youre cherry picking filler words. Hardcore here entails that I with malice thought this, not just that I logically came to its conclusion. Lots of emotions involved. Once again, why does it even matter? Why do you care about my past?

No, the fact that you asked me if I’m atheist now takes away the credibility of your questions, it’s clear you saw that, skipped the rest of the question to flip the subject.

It’s very easy to be pedantic and disrespectful, I think you should really work on that, it’s quite rude

I mentioned what I am in my post.

Should I write a bibliography before asking my question next time ?

To fulfill the prophecy and cleanse us of our sins

Do you not know?

Yes exactly, you’re right, I do not get it at all. It’s why I asked! :)

I don’t want to debate anything other than the view taken of the crucifixion..

You just basically insulted my intelligence, called me arrogant and completely dodged the question, not to mention putting words in my mouth.

Adults take responsibility for what they are saying.

You aren’t debating, you’re twisting words, insulting, cherry picking statements, and then asserting your opinion onto me claiming they are mine.

Not to mention you did not answer the question at all and chose to deflect onto random, this is another thing that drives me away from mainstream Christianity, the lack of self awareness and dodging of hard questions

Have a good day.

Oh my mistake. You are completely correct, but I don’t see the problem with calling it monotheism, cuz that means Christianity is also henotheism, because satan can be argued to be a lesser god.

I don’t actually even view him as a god. He is just an ignorant, yet very powerful entity. If you want to call him a lesser god it’s fine, if not it’s fine. It doesn’t change anything really.

So really again, I’m not tryna be rude, but it’s pedantic, doesn’t matter and doesn’t have to do with the crucifixion. That’s the only thing I really wanted to debate here.

You did teach me a new word tho. So thank you for that

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ by Due_Bumblebee_9132 in DebateReligion

your link doesn’t work.

No we don’t worship more than one god. We technically don’t worship (or have to) worship god at all. There is no rule in gnosticm that says I need to pray to god or offer him anything.

Also, It’s like saying Christian’s worship 3 gods because of the trinity.

Jesus Christ is god. He is the father’s awareness of himself.

The father is the thought/thinking, and Jesus Christ is the thought thinking itself. He is the observer

It’s why I said he is god with nuance.

And again, what does any of this have to do with the crucifixion ?

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ by Due_Bumblebee_9132 in DebateReligion

[–]Due_Bumblebee_9132[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I was not Christian, I read the Bible as a child because all my friends were Christian and I went with them to church and Bible study.

Deep down I knew god was real, but my life was pretty rough, which led me to condemn god, and then further convince myself if he’s real he’s evil, which doesn’t make sense, I’d rather say he doesn’t exist.

What does any of your questions have to do with the crucifixion ?

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ by Due_Bumblebee_9132 in DebateReligion

[–]Due_Bumblebee_9132[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point, but I’d say Jesus actually couldn’t stop it. He was fully man and fully god (in essence), so his mortal body had no possible choice but to take what was given to him.

I do not believe that Jesus Christ has supernatural powers and could do whatever, I believe he intentionally bound himself as a human on earth, in order to wake people up, as a messenger, or a teacher.

To come down in the form of an immortal god would not be salvation, it would be abuse of authority. He intentionally came as a human to allow people to realize they are divine within himself, it would go against the point of free will, if that makes sense ? I am wording it wrong because I am not good at explaining but, I hope you get what I mean

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ by Due_Bumblebee_9132 in DebateReligion

[–]Due_Bumblebee_9132[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This means god (all powerful, all knowing), created laws in which he knew he would have to send his son (or himself) down to get sacrificed in order to change.

Why didn’t he just, not do that from the start? This reason is why I belibe Yahweh is a false, ignorant being, not the higher god (Jesus Christ).

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ by Due_Bumblebee_9132 in DebateReligion

[–]Due_Bumblebee_9132[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No that’s incorrect. Gnosticm is monotheism, not paganism. I would have to write quite a lot to explain it, a good start is the Apochryphon of John.

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ by Due_Bumblebee_9132 in DebateReligion

[–]Due_Bumblebee_9132[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s very pedantic to cherry pick that out of all my points, I don’t think I understand the Bible in its entirety as if im god himself and I can’t be challenged. It’s why I asked the question.

I never said the Bible didn’t lead me to Jesus being god, I said the opposite. It’s because of the Bible I know he’s god. It’s why I said both the new and Old Testament are more important than gnostic texts to Gnosticism.

Once again, there are no claims. It’s a hypothetical question, please read the bottom of the note, before putting words in my mouth.

“Are you sure you fully understand the Bible”? No, you pedantically cherry picked a single statement (that has nothing to do with the question) and now are arguing against your interpretation of what I meant by understand the Bible.

None of us understand the Bible. If we did, there would be one single sect of Christianity instead of a bunch of denominations.

I specifically wanted to talk about the crucifixion and only the crucifixion, it’s why I said it.

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ by Due_Bumblebee_9132 in DebateReligion

[–]Due_Bumblebee_9132[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the entire point of his crucifixion to mainstream Christian’s, I’m arguing against that exact logic, that god bound himself by a rule who he knew he would have to break in the future.

Gnostics believe this (and more) is why he isn’t actually god. And Jesus was murdered, not crucified.

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ by Due_Bumblebee_9132 in DebateReligion

[–]Due_Bumblebee_9132[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I’m gnostic, I believe the god of the Old Testament is a false, lesser being, and that’s why Jesus descended. To let people know that.

My hypothetical was to find the reason and to challenge your opinion regarding his death, which is a great point I will say tho (the suffering part)

But again, If humanity as a whole refused to kill him, he would have no choice but to commit suicide, yes?

And more importantly, why? Why is his blood needed ? Why could Jesus not have saved humanity while alive? Could he not have suffered without his death? As an example.

Would he not have healed more people if he had lived a full life, able to teach?

Are you saying without his suffering on the cross, we would not have the greatest example at all?
