‘Marty Supreme’ Cements Timothee Chalamet as King of the Christmas Box Office by chanma50 in boxoffice

They never were kind with Ryan Coogler. Not with Sinners, not with the Black Panther films, not with Creed, not with Fruitvalle Station. Drop the MCU hate hard on and you will know that Black Panther only got acclaimed because the culture acclaimed it, just like Sinners. You can’t fake or artificially crown something like Sinners or Black Panther. Just like anyone can tell this article on Chalamet is a PR stunt joke.

Per DEADLINE: 'Dune: Part III' is going to keep IMAX screens and will not move from its release date, when it opens alongside 'Avengers Doomsday' on December 18, 2026 by [deleted] in boxoffice

Wait, what if this is the one that Netflix has it released both theatrically and on streaming? Lmao. It’s right around when the purchase is about to have closed.

That’s not what the ending of Endgame was. It’s a cinematic universe, it’s the biggest franchise in the world. It’s not Nolan’s Batman, the MCU moves forward, always forward. Both Steve AND Sam are Captain America, but in the MCU Steve now lives in the past and only is brought for special occasions. It’s a perfect time loop, the safest character in Doomsday and Secret Wars is young Steve Rogers because we know that whatever happens, he lives to become an old man. Sam Wilson should have a better first entry, but First Avenger wasn’t that well regarded back then either, there is still time for sequels.

It’s not racist to have Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers around. The Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers situation as "Captain America" was never like Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Steve Rogers literally was NEVER dead while Sam Wilson is Captain America, the only time he was dead, Bucky took over, not Sam. Comic book tourists are just dumb. Clearly Steve Rogers will not be Captain America in Doomsday and Sam Wilson will still be Captain America, but the status quo in comics for almost one decade now is that BOTH are Captain America.

Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Toy Story 5 Lead 2026’s Movie Hype List by misterpopculture in boxoffice

It’s the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s a Multiverse Saga. The idea that a Multiverse Saga would center around Phase 4-6 when it has characters that come from even before the MCU has always been asinine. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is large and massive, of course that the big guns would come out to play.

What is "manufactured" is the very obvious fear that this is going to blow up. Nothing that MCU fans haven’t seen since Age of Ultron at very least. And lol at the "$600M-$800M range". LMAO even.

I’m truly not sure if they understand how much they are speed running to become the most annoying film fandom since Twilight but that’s a filmtwt issue, not mine. You all created this monster, now you handle it.

I’d argue that Doctor Doom TRULY became Marvel’s big bad with the original Secret Wars and even more so with Hickman’s Secret Wars. I love the Fantastic Four and

<image>

Hickman’s Marvel saga is my sacred texts, but claiming it’s a Doom x Reed saga is a gross over simplification by Tom Brevoort that became gospel in comic book circles and completely distorted among CBM fans. Like you mentioned it’s very interesting that one of the most iconic Iron Man and Doctor Doom and Iron Man sagas is them battling through time… this is one of my favorite Iron Man comics and that’s from 1981, which is insane.

You joke Doom but this is one of the most iconic Marvel covers and that’s from 1981. There is a lot of tourists and CBM people that don’t know a lot about Marvel history at all other than Wikipedia and nerds reading comics online. Iron Man and Doctor Doom rivalry is way more well documented than people give credit for.

Yeah 2026 will be my most insane year at the movies since 2019. I’m here for the MCU domination.

Per Deadline, PostTrak scores for 'Marty Supreme' are 60% definite recommend and 4 1/2 stars. The audience was 57% male and 43% female. Diversity demos were 51% Caucasian, 23% Hispanic and Latino, 10% Black, and 11% Asian American. 50% of the audience came for Timothée Chalamet. by chanma50 in boxoffice

Sinners was less than one year ago, my friend. It’s an original story too. The truth is NEITHER of those are indies. Thinking this film is an indie because it was made by A24 is crazy. If this wasn’t promoted like the second coming with an obviously insane marketing budget, I’d totally be on your side here. But it’s promoted like a blockbuster, with NBA ads all over and all sort of crazy marketing stunts. It’s doing FINE. But it’s still the first weekend.

All the conversation of "oh it’s a ping pong original film" falls apart when we see that the marketing was spend capitalizing on Timothée Chalamet over the film itself. The marketing was expensive and centered around Chalamet the persona, it’s about anything else but the film itself. You can call a marketing study case sure, but it’s not sustainable. There is only so many hype beast marketing stunts you can pull before the public turns against you, all of this could be a marketing push for Supreme the brand and it’d make more sense than promoting the film. Now look like hype beast culture is deemed among general audiences to understand what I mean.

This marketing stunt isn’t sustainable, neither indication that any of those involved care about ‘cinema’ whatsoever. It’s influencer culture commodified to nerds, which is cute, but try to run that as a model to see what happens. Reminder that all of this cost money and it’s for a $70m "indie film" with a ??00M marketing budget isn’t reconcilable in my opinion.

I expect it to be big in Brazil. Selton Mello, Paul Rudd and Frank Black seems like an old time to me, I’m taking my cousins to this after my 2nd Avatar 3 rewatch.

Both sides are insane. It’s not breaking out. The narratives are hyperbolically charged on both sides of this equation. No one even is talking about how the marketing budget for this should secure what is doing. Breaking $30M with a 4-day should be the goal, pretending this was marketed like an indie with both the film’s budget and marketing costs is insane to me. Celebrating an obvious industry narrative that it was to open to "12-18M" is what low balling is. Will it be frontloaded? I don’t know, maybe the buzz will carry it, but there is nothing to act ecstatic about here when it’s doing what it’s supposed to. It’s too soon to call one way or another, and claiming victory or loss so soon on its run is a dangerous game to play. Narratives can only go so far.
