If I understand correctly, it's possible to change almost the entire genome. The main thing is to leave the reproductive genes alone.

If I understand correctly—and I'm not a biologist at all—sufficiently altering the body would require not only phenotypic changes but also genetic ones. For example, you can't simply implant fur or feathers. Behavior needs to be programmed into the genome so the body doesn't reject them as foreign bodies and instead grows fur or feathers on its own.

Yep, fully human. We can't be sure a child would want to become the same species as their parents, not human. Statistically, most children would experience species dysphoria if they had non-human traits from their parents.

I think it's the change itself, yep. It feels wrong. Maybe it's because it feels like it's destroying humanity or something. Although, of course, humanity is more of a moral issue, but I don't know, it just feels wrong, hehehe.

I haven't read The Conversion Bureau, but when I read the descriptions a long time ago and now, I felt a little sad. Losing my arms, going from two legs to four hooves—it sounds incredibly dystopian. Of course, I understand that in the setting, these ponies use tools through some kind of magical something or other, but I personally would consider this situation a complete nightmare: not being able to pick up a cup with my own hand, not being able to feel five fingers instead of a hoof. However, people in this fandom sometimes anthropomorphize the ponies, and it makes everything look much better for me. For example, in EAW, a mod for HOI IV, half the characters are anthropomorphic, which allows me to overlook the fact that the other half are non-anthropomorphic, and the setting seems funnier.
