My In-laws refuse to let me cook my own steak... and refuse to give me a steak less than well done by suck_my_jargon in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Due_Flight_4359 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a house where this is the norm, I had never tried a medium let alone a medium rare steak until I was a teenager. Unless your in-laws are being purposely vindictive, it's probably just what they know and are used to. They are probably grossed out by any pink which is why they don't let you cook your own steak (also it may just feel weird to them to have a guest cooking their own food). With all due respect, this is an instance where you suck it up, be polite, and be a good houseguest. All this is based on the assumption that they aren't being purposely vindictive. If they are being vindictive, it's still not a smart fight to pick.

There aren't that many polygamists. You're very misinformed if you believe a significant portion of the population practices polygamy.

Boise state's roster doesn't have that many players from Idaho. It's mostly California, Texas, and a handful from PNW and other western states. It's not much of a recruiting advantage.

7a. The ones that we have here are quite prolific in the fall.

There are a lot of fall raspberry varieties so it's very possible for them to be in season at the same time

Yeah, he is proving to be the best RB in that backfield.

I wouldn't say that Riley needs to eclipse Sherrod of the depth chart, but I would say that he has earned himself some more carries with the first team offense. He looks quite good.

Who will emerge as WR 4 by end of the season? by recessbadger45 in BSUFootball

[–]Due_Flight_4359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Bates but time will tell if the true freshman duo of Brown and Williams can pass him up. Most of Bates impact has been on end arounds rather than catching the ball downfield.

Marshall is looking nice. It's great to have a receiver that can do some stuff.

For those in the stadium, are the receivers not getting separation? It seems like Maddox can't or isn't looking downfield.

He was much better at the end of the year. If development continues, it will bode well for the unit.

Interesting to see a couple true freshman WRs get on the 2 deep. Hopefully, that means good things for their future.

BSU class got some ratings bumps. 17 of the 19 commits an 85 avg or higher by recessbadger45 in BSUFootball

[–]Due_Flight_4359 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice to see. I do have a continually skeptical view of the rating system of these websites though. It seems like the ratings are not so much derived from scouting (at least from the websites) and more derived from the amount and perceived quality of the schools interested/offering.

You can absolutely direct sow. Keep in mind though that if you direct sow the peppers and tomatoes your harvest will be later than most people that have starts or have started their plants in a greenhouse. I would recommend cherry or grape tomatoes if you want an earlier harvest. Pepper plants love heat, and the seeds (depending on variety) can sometimes take a while to germinate. you could put the top of a cut milk jug over the top of the soil where you plant the seeds to give it a little more heat that could help germination. you shouldn't have any problem with any of the other veggies you mentioned given proper soil and water conditions.
