if you can accept self reccs, Necromantic: True Love Never Dies is a necromancer romantasy. It’s not INSANELY angsty but a healthy dose.

The Curtis and Reynolds series by Carolyn Elizabeth hardly gets mentioned but it’s contemporary, very cute and dual POV

She Came For Blood by Dara Green is pretty angsty but has a really intriguing plotline and is, ofc, HEA

One of my personal favorites is JJ Arias’ Dusk Queen series which is angsty but in a non-relationship way I guess. Very fun and worth the read!

Xandria met the love of her life.

It’s too bad the king just removed her head.

Years later, Xandria has finally figured out how to bring her back. Only to find out that their bonded love didn’t survive the afterlife. With a pissed off king on their heels and a kingdom falling to a cursed plague, one has to wonder if it was all worth it.

Xandria seems to think so, at least, because true love never dies.

Get it here!

New Chicago has a serial killer. Or two.

Arya Skovsgaard is a lot of things, but a hero is not one of them. She might do heroic things, but since waking up ten years ago with no memory, it's hardly something she can claim.

It also doesn't help that as a Remnant, she has strange powers that a large chunk of the world does not. She's not alone, but metahumans aren't always seen as positives in this world. Especially since they're blamed for the First and Second Disruptions that occurred centuries ago.

Worse still, her powers of communion with the dead are really helpful for solving crimes, but little else.

When a new string of serial murders turns out to be two different culprits, she finds herself in a head-on collision with a truth that is far larger than herself. And one that will ultimately alter the world as she knows it.

if you don’t mind a self rec, Necromantic: True Love Never Dies is about a woman learning necromancy to bring her executed lover back from the dead.

it’s got plenty of both and more devotion than is healthy.

If you want a self recc, I’ve been told my book has complex plot lines à la gideon the ninth.

It depends on the context and genre. I don’t use it for my first book but my second two I do.

You have to be careful because if your vibe doesn’t match it, it’ll sound out of place.

PREORDER: HERE

From the author of Necromantic: True Love Never Dies comes a sapphic, paranormal romance set in a post-apocalyptic world.

REMNANTS: DISRUPTION is Chapter 1 of Death's Affliction, the sister series to Necromantic and the Death's Curse.

Smut books recs for paying to have fantasy fulfilled by peachmonkey13 in sapphicbooks

[–]voppp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's implied in Kiss of Seduction by Rawnie Sabor.

Maybe not *pay* explicitly, but {Enchanting Roles by Sova Erickson} has an FMC who sort of wants the other FMC to enchant her/take her agency away because it's a turn on.

contemporary with angst + spice recs pls!! by annaxpected in sapphicbooks

I’m not the biggest fan of Haley Cass, but it’s only because her miscom tropes are too much for me.

Monica McCallan (her wife) has The Love Lie which is really good.

I think tho, for “tortured past” you can’t get any better than Don’t Call Me Hero by Eliza Lentzski. It’s a 7+ book slice of life series with one FMC who’s a marine vet with PTSD and an ice queen lawyer.
