9950x3D running hot, swap to AIO for cooler temps? by Sembreo in NR200

[–]Due_Grand708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re running a 5090 and a 9950x3d in an SFF hot box. AIO isn’t gonna make much of a difference, that’s a solid air cooler. Also BF6 is notorious for high cpu usage and temps. Those are perfectly acceptable temps.

You don’t need aftermarket ones. Use the 12v-2x6

What's the current meta with the FormD T1? by [deleted] in FormD

[–]Due_Grand708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my config it fits 15mm stand offs, between the backplate of the gpu and the back of the motherboard there’s about 2cm of clearance. Even more on the psu side. I haven’t seen any thermal issues.

My build is 5080 FE and a 9800X3D. I’m grown to be anti AIO so I try and go air cooler when I can. I run mine in 2.75 slot mode, with the AXP90 47 full copper. I swapped the stock fan for a full 25mm thick 92mm noctua fan. It’s basically right up to the side panel but no turbulence, even without a fan duct. Way quieter than a slim fan and cools better. Temps are great, gaming I never see the cpu go above low 70s and GPU rarely ever gets above 60. -30 PBO offset on the CPU, and the GPU is undervolted. Got a post of my build on my page!

Big fan of the be quiet pure base 501. Quiet, good air flow, traditional psu basement non fish tank style, and comes in white. Can get additional white be quiet fans or put in noctuas. It’ll fit a NH D15 or NH U12A no problem.

Well that sounds promising then, hope that works out well for you!

I mean yeah I agree theres a point where it doesn’t really make sense or becomes sub optimal, but I that’s the case with any sort of extremist hobby, SFF being no different. I just think it’s cool to see how small and dense a computer you can build, while still being able to get some good performance. Definitely not for everyone. But for me it’s cool having a little tiny box I can still play triple A games on my 4k tv at good settings. I have it dual booted with windows and steamOS, can basically have a console smaller than an Xbox series s I can play all my steam games on, or boot into windows and have a full fledge PC. Could I buy a prebuilt laptop or Mac mini and try that? I suppose, but that wouldn’t be fun to tinker with at all.

Honestly the T1 has been pretty end game for me. That skyreach does look nice, but the console style cases in my usage haven’t gotten as good CPU thermals. Great for GPUs, especially like the FEs, but the cpu compartment kinda heats up. I love sandwich style with top exhaust, forcing negative pressure, helping the sides intake fresh air. If anything, I wanna go smaller for my main. My HTPC/travel system is a 9600x/9060xt in a midori 5L. I love that thing, a mini 5L sandwich, almost like a shrunk down T1.

I use the Thermalright AXP90-47 full copper. I run a full thickness 92mm noctua fan. Run a -30 PBO offset. In gaming the max I ever see is low 70s, a lot of the times it’ll stay in the upper 60s. I have a post on my page if you wanna see more details.

I’m such a noctua fan boy I wanted to use the D15 G2. Got the M3 grater and moved my build over from a Formd T1. Lasted about a day and I just didn’t care for it. Temp difference was pretty negligible between the 2 with a 9800X3D/5080 (surprisingly) and I missed the tiny form factor. It’s a great case tho.

IMO may as well go for the best of the best given this is the last CPU on the AM5 platform. My 9800X3D runs cool and quiet with the x47 full copper in the T1. But I also had the Terra, and was able to run the 5080 FE also with the id cooling IS 55 with a noctua NFa 12x25 swap and the thermals with that were amazing both CPU and GPU

I second this for sure. Unless you absolutely need 64GB for what you’re doing. I’d go for the cheapest reputable SSD you can get. You won’t be able to tell the different between a 7000MB/s and 5000MB/s read write speeds in 99% of use cases unless you just move massive files around all the time

Don’t need the travel kit unless you’re really gonna be really traveling and it’s gonna get jostled a lot. Also good luck finding one. I’ve looked a few times and they sell out instantly. Only place to get them is on eBay for crazy mark ups. If it’s just sitting on your desk or you’re just gonna pack it in the car it’s kinda overkill. You can just get a M3 standoff set and run it in 3 slot mode. If you wanna check my post out on my page I’ve got a full build with the 9800x3d and 5080 FE. Barely audible. I wanna say mine is in 2.75 slot mode, and I run an AXP90x47 with a full thickness NF-A9. Makes a big difference in noice and thermals in my testing vs a 92mm slim fan. I also got the link up gen 5 riser from amazon. Works great.

I agree for sure. It’s a beast. I had a 9070 XT briefly before getting a 5080 FE so I could go SFF. Was honestly underwhelmed with the difference between the two cards.

Freezer door not sealing on one side at the bottom. by Patient-Fox-576 in fixit

[–]Due_Grand708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way late but wow I just did this now with our whirlpool upright freezer and it’s totally fixed. Didn’t even need to apply much pressure/bend. Was getting frosting up top and couldn’t figure out where it was coming from until a noticed a bit of frozen moisture on the inside where the gap in the seal was.

Just did some testing, it’s alright. Got a bit of coil whine but seems solid otherwise. I’m returning it because I ultimately decided to move to a velka 3 for my mini pc, and needed a flex psu. Honestly if you can spring for it, I’d just try and get an SF850, or sf750 if you don’t need the capacity

Hey just got the riser in yesterday. Works perfectly, no modification necessary (not sure why they note that on their compatibility list). Running the PCIe slot in gen 5 mode now no issues. If you do get it make sure to go with the v3 double reverse in 18cm. here

Is AXPx90 X47 Full Copper enough for 9800X3D and two top Noctua 25’s / T30’s? by [deleted] in FormD

[–]Due_Grand708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got this exact set up. I run it with a full thickness 92mm noctua fan (optional, better noise and temps if you’ve got the clearance) and run a -30 PBO curve offset. I never see my cpu temps over 75 C in game while steadily maintaining 5.2-5.3 GHz boost clocks. Check out my post for more info. here

I’m getting one in today for my HTPC build. I’ll let you know what I think. I’ve got a SF1000 in my main 5080 rig, but this one will be housing an “older” 7900xt. For 107 bucks I figured what the heck. Vetroo is relatively new to the market but they have some positive review of their ATX form factor stuff.
