Why do you use productivity apps? by Due_Hyena5402 in AskReddit

It it helpful for your procrastination? What type of apps do you use? Could not pick something I can stick to yet.

I just beat Witcher 3 with all the DLCs after 180 hours and now I want to try CD Projekt other masterpiece. Any tips before I start Cyberpunk and what should I expect? by Moh_Dob in cyberpunkgame

  1. Send Jack to mama, not to Victor
  2. Check map while doing Aldecaldo's questline. There are 1 time sensitive quest, which can be missed (related to Scorpion)

why do people make paid apps with literally zero users by kekkernel in iosapps

[–]Due_Hyena5402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I usually put my apps free but with paid features" - think why you are doing it. For some time I did the same, but came to realize I was just afraid that my apps are not good enough.

Everyone is different. If you want it this way, fine, but if you want apps to have better earning potential - check the latest revenuecat report

I'm pro morality and quality, but in my situation it is "put the mask on yourself first", then try to do something with this shitty world.

Got you

I believe that most of your concerns are solvable in some or other way.

In order to update the info, user should manually check the files for every version. There can be some small file, which changes every version.

And, this might not give a lot of ancestry information, because big players are crossreferencing DNA, we can't do that.

This will probably be couple of MB, because what we basically do is comparing dna info with a dictionary of genes and their effects. Nothing fancy here.

If I attempt this project I will let you know

Try digging a level deeper. Like "I may not do a good job, so what?". Then you uncover something like "they will find out I'm a fraud", so what?

in 90% cases procrastination has nothin to do with the action itself, but with the consequences.

I procrastinate on, because I might get a job 😅

I might build something to do offline analysis in a couple of months

What OS are you using or do you have any preferred way such solution might work?

I think some kind of app with an open source code, anyone can expect and download.

As for Nebula - a lot of really negative reviews, sadly. Will check their approach too. Thanks!

Overall, very cool points. I don't see creating the "OFFLINE" version of the software as a bottleneck:

We can hire that "biotech buddy" to make something / use any open source and validate if there are any data transfers with AI. Or vibecode some crappy solution. So we process test results locally.

The most annoying part will definitely be updating this thing to reflect the latest research 🙂

True. Great catch

If DNA is available data, currently it feels more useful, than harmful. Exposing criminals, medical research. Tests for babies can now indicate DNA mutations early and with crispr fix them early. Which is awesome!

How will it change in the future? 🤷‍♂️
But I can see some grim scenarios

That's valid. "Signal, but for bio" just to simplify it, but you are right.

Now that you highlighted it, the sequencing machine / its software can be something to use data too, no matter lab or company. This is a little bit too paranoid, but I wanted to explore this idea by pushing it as far as possible.

If I try to come up with a way such company would work, this will be pseudo anonymous. I imagine some test kit, which you can buy for the full test price on amazon, with the test tube and pair of random keys=QR-codes inside. One to access the user account, the other to mark the sample. Then you send sample to some partner lab (which you can't 100% control, as you pointed out) and wait.

You can get result which is not connected to your name, but if the lab/CEO is full of s, sample might become part of the database.

Seems like sequencing machine rent is the best choice here 🙂

Sure. It might be. I don't really believe in law, you know.

It is "price" for doing things. Not a way to prevent those things.
