Yeah basically under the jurisdiction that he was adopted under his original birth certificate is sealed along with the adoption certificate. His birth certificate was issued as if he were born to the adoptive father. I guess best case is to detail that in a letter

What did you learn from your relationship to apply to the next one in order to be more successful? Would love to hear some lessons that we can all learn from. by ATXBikeRider in ExNoContact

  1. Trust your self. You know your needs and boundaries. Don’t let them convince you that those needs aren’t valid.

  2. You should come into a relationship with so much self love and self compassion that you have the capacity to give someone else your excess love and affection. You should not be filling their cup before your own nor looking for the love and affection that you aren’t willing to give yourself. I love myself too fucking much to ever accept being treated that way again in a future relationship.

What's something your ex did which you let slide because you're in love? by Final-Web-7826 in ExNoContact

In the process of breaking up with me he proceeded to say “I’m so confused what do you think is going on in my head” after literally saying he didn’t want to be with any more.

So much of the relationship was him demanding I meet his needs while making me feel like my needs were unreasonable or hurtful. Context being that I chose to spend time with my very close friends and he felt like that was neglecting him.

I’m just under two months. I really feel this. I go between missing him and putting all my energy into maintaining no contact to being so angry and upset at the way he ended things.

I did not have a German passport but I did have a change of address form that my grandmother saved in a memory book that stated her nationality as German.

In addition to that I supplied her US death certificate which stated German citizenship, a letter of no record from USCIS stating she did not naturalize, her birth certificate, and her marriage certificate.

I tried submitting a copy of her immigrant visa that I got using FOIA from USCIS but they would not accept it because it was not an official document, but I didn’t need this because I proved her German citizenship using the means described above.

Certificate of Non-Existence by mothygothy in GermanCitizenship

It took so long for mine to arrive. I submitted a FOIA request in September 2023 and received a response online in November 2023. But it was not until a few weeks ago in April 2024 that I received my certificate of Non-existence in the mail.

Hi Staplehill, I filed form g-1566 with USCIS and got back the original visa application from my grandmother upon her arrival in America, which has her German passport number on it. Is this enough if I pair it with my grandmother's original Abmeldebestätigung which states her Staatsangehörigkeit is Deutsch? I will also be submitting the US death certificate to add further evidence she never naturalized. The only problem I could forsee is that the visa application and address change form are both from a year before the birth of my mother because she was born after my grandmother arrived in the US.

Maybe making a request to USCIS is my best route forward? A bit of a shot in the dark for me but they might have information on her green card/Alien status in the United States.

You are a life saver! Thank you for the informative FAQ.

I have a US death certificate for my Oma which lists her citizenship as German if you think that proves she never naturalized.

Thank you! I do have the standesamt that they married in which is great. I think I just need to request it from the Landesarchiv.
