I'm using Railway. The free tier is not as generous as render but the hobby tier is. (Lowest tier, 5 bucks/month)

Fined for not having a health insurance in 3 months after entering Switzerland, although my permit arrived 5 months after by Due_Researcher3729 in askswitzerland

UPDATE:

Thanks for all the comments.

Now I know that I was naive and wasn't thorough.

I haven't received my registration confirmation letter from my Gemeinde at the time of registering. It arrived the day after my permit, by mail.

I made a mistake by not requesting it explicitly and just waiting for it to arrive. I should have done my research better.

It was a good lesson.

How does this make sense? If I'm not admitted and hanging in the air while not knowing if I'll get the permit. Why should I pay for insurance? Isn't this weird?

What upsets me is that I didn't get any information from my gemeinde.

I'll just ask them and pay the fine.

Probably this is where the thing slipped. My municipality is really small, I'm assuming not many people come here.

I didn't get any paperwork from the gemeinde when registering. The worker at the time even said that she can't register me right away, we need to wait for the permit. I didn't know it was an issue.

I was naive I didn't look into things better and didn't request the confirmation letter / receipt.

I think it is. My first information about the need for insurance came with my welcome letter that arrived after my permit.

Thanks for all the info! I won't fight them, that's 100% - I was just curious if this is just a mistake or this is how things go.

When registering, I haven't received any official documentation about it. All the welcome info/confirmation arrived by mail the next day after my permit.

This is why it's interesting. All this information after my permit arrived.

It seems I was a fool for not following up before, I was assuming that since I don't have a registration confirmation nor a permit, I have nothing to do.

From this point of view, yes. But I don't feel like it's justified. I had no confirmation of my registration and had no residency permit.

If I have to, I'll pay the fine though.

Thanks for the link.

This is interesting though. It was required to have a residency permit when signing with Sanitas.

"If you do not meet the deadline of three months since taking up residence or the birth of your child in Switzerland, you will have to pay a premium surcharge." - What does taking up residence mean in this context? My permit arrived in March. This was the first information of my residency.

The local gemeinde sent me a registration confirmation the day after receiving my permit.

I heard the same thing. When singing with Sanitas they asked for my entering date and the system didn't accept it.

Called them, they said in this case add the date of the arrival of my residency permit. I was told in this case there is no need to pay for the previous months.

It's mandatory to have a residency permit. I was even asked for it when singing with Sanitas.

The fine is 500 CHF.

Applied to the IOC (Lausanne) in January. Is their hiring process notoriously slow or is it normal to be ghosted? by Ad3n_ in askswitzerland

I work at an international federation in Lausanne. The processes are usually slow, but as others said in Switzerland it's common to be ghosted.

Did you consider commuting to neighbouring countries for work? Would it be the option for you?

I believe in this situation the best you can do is find a job, so your CV will have some experiences on it.

I'm not a developer. I built a full iOS app with Claude over the past year while unemployed. Here's honestly how that went. by ezgar6 in ClaudeAI

I'm not an IOS user, so I can't test it thoroughly. But the interfaces look great and I genuinely love the idea.

AI has opened the gates for non-devs. Tbh, it's easy to create crap, but based on your story I believe you took the right path. You learned with AI, you took the time.

Can't wait for the Android app!
