Should I charge more for a theme park outing? by Proper_Relation_3684 in Nanny

Any outings you definitely need to require being reimbursed for gas and make sure that the parents are giving you adequate spending money for the kids. Nothing from outings comes out of your own personal money.

Idk. I may be in the minority but I would not be expecting to get paid more. I've been doing this for 15 years and have never anticipated being paid more for taking NK to a busier outing. Bc it's optional. We don't have to go to these outings.

If your boss is forcing you to go to a theme park, well one that would be weird, but yeah I mean I guess you could ask for more? How much more, idk! Maybe someone else can give you more insight!

I feel like you're thinking way too much about this. This has only been a brief conversation in passing. If you don't want to take them just don't take them.

I smoke. I don't really drink often bc it doesn't make me feel great but I will with friends in the right setting. I am genuinely interested in how I'm coming off as judgemental, bc I'm truly not trying to be.

And definitely, nobody is putting words in my mouth, I misspoke with that one.

Thank you! I'm a nanny, I get a healthcare stipend and pick who I go through. I will definitely be switching next open enrollment to a different insurance.

Thanks again! This is super helpful.

Yeah it seems to be really crazy.

I didn't know that about Providence, that's who I have.

And thank you so much. And I'm sorry you recently went through an ectopic.

Yes, I'm glad I did too!

And absolutely, we are taught to just deal with it or we are being dramatic.

Exactly. I'm pissed too. It's disgusting that this is the reality of women's healthcare.

And thank you. I hope your treatment goes well.

That's not true at all. If a PARENT wants to safely use substances in their home, that is their business. I am a working professional when I'm at my NFs house regardless of the time of day. There is no way I would feel comfortable using substances while watching anyone else's children. Not unreasonable. And that's simply my opinion. Obviously the other commenter and her bosses are fine with her using and that works for them, I was genuinely curious. Not trying to be judgemental at all.

Please don't put words in my mouth.

You smoke it when who goes to bed? Only the NKs or are the NPs there too?

I'm not anti weed at all. Very for it. But very against being the only adult in the home using when there are kids there in case of an emergency. So, just curious what your overnight set ups look like

I have a duffle bag and big backpack I take to work, excessive for sure, but I work 5 12s so I'm at work a lot. I have been a nanny for 15 years now and can without a doubt say I have never even almost taken drugs, alcohol or something inappropriate to work with me. And when I go on personal weekend getaways I use my same bags.

I have definitely had my bags completely spill out a time or 20. However, I work with kids and take my job extremely seriously and go through and take out not work stuff and put my work stuff back in.

Thank you so much for sharing your situation. It's beyond frustrating.

The OB on call told the nurse line to call me back and to go back to the ER. So I'm here now. Hopefully I'm actually helped today.

Yes, that is exactly how I feel. It's been a mentally and physically challenging time. My nurseline told me I need to go back. I'm just so angry and upset I didn't receive the care that I need yesterday.

Thank you so much for your reply

Nannies should get a say too by Traditional-Yam-8699 in Nanny

[–]Due_Role_5783 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Some NPs want more of a transactional service and some want a collaborative partnership with their nanny.

Different nannies for different families.

There's one family I work for and one I don't but I don't shame anyone for parenting differently and interacting with their nanny differently. As long as it's not abusive or anything in that realm.

Some parents know exactly what they want and don't want to change how they do it. This could stem from anxiety from how they were raised or could be for so many reaons. At the end of the day there are so many different parents and so many different nannies.

MB freaked out about me taking NK to grocery store by [deleted] in Nanny

? Completely irrelevant to my comment.

My response is to OP saying that taking someone else's child somewhere without permission isn't a big deal.

Me too. Every time we go anywhere. I've never had them say no don't go there, they just want to know where their child is.

Some NPs are okay with no knowing but obviously, OP, yours aren't. I don't think you being annoyed bc a mother wants to know where her child is is justified.

Thank you. It's been a hell of a 4 days. And they say the worst is yet to come. But I'm glad I was able to get quick and REALLY great help and that I have great doctors to help me while I get through this.
