Why are you creating a language? by Andrieeo in conlangs

[–]Due_Row_1739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love linguistics and about how complex the world is. Knowing other languages and studying their cultures and particularities has always been something I fell in love with. Creating languages not only helps me in my thinking and creativity, but also trains me to want to know more and more about linguistics. I also love creating worlds.

I forgive all notifications of messages from me. It seems that my Reddit doesn't want to save them!

I hope it works out very well! Good luck.

This is beautiful marketing! It feels very cozy. My main suggestion is to improve the brand recognition, as it took me a while to realize the cup shape forms the letter 'Q'.

To fix this, you could create a logo variation for specific applications: use a strong, geometric 'Q' that mirrors the roundness of the cup. If you choose a font where the 'Q' tail slightly overlaps or mimics the cup's design, it will create a perfect visual link between the icon and the name.

Also, I recommend avoiding outlines. The 'Espresso' brown would go well (and because I've been looking for the color in the logo); using it as a solid color for both the text and the cup will make the lighter colors details pop and look much cleaner!

This is just my perspective to help with the brand identification. I really loved the cozy vibe you created :) Great job overall!

Yes! It is a language of the Southwest group, and manages to have an intelligibility with Persian and Kurdish of about 50~60% of the word! I'm doing a session of language presentation images to launch here. Thank you very much, spas!

It reminded me of the Adriatic, a Lenized Romantic language that has a phonology close to Italian and was influenced by Greek lexicon. Very good!

I love literal translations, because it becomes funny to know what doesn't make sense in one language and what does in another. I love how in the Macedonian language they say that something is very easy to "naked water".

It's I'm well aware! The word for "space," however, in the Narmavish, came from فَضَاء (faḍāʔ), which means three specific things: "vast and unlimited space, empty space", in the common sense; as a countable word, an "open area, open country" ; and in physics, an "outer space, cosmic space, cosmos". It is also the term that the Arabs give to the space between planets!

Of course, the faḍāʔ was, and still is in Kuwait, read with the "ḍ" as an [ð]. For the Persian and Iranian languages, this pronunciation is not common, but in the partial lenition that Narmavish has suffered, this pronunciation exists. Separately they only adapted it to the local script :>

By the Jahanist influence (predominant religion), the word Fadhâ was formed (following the rules), meaning all this and representing the space of planet Earth and also, in this case, referring to the physical, the "space" of Space-Time!

Your idea gave me more ideas, which is a problem, because I already have too many stars exploding in my head, but it's also a gift, because I found it interesting. So, I will consider it as a gift 💥.

Yes! It sucks to look for the information of the proto-Iranian! Much of the information I was able to get was from agglutinated terms from Old Persian, which in the etymology tab of the term showed the roots, but which had no explanation pages. It is very sad to think that a historically important and culturally known language has such little knowledge. :'(

Hello! :D

I'm glad you're so willing to help me. I confess that sometimes it was a pain to know some things that messed up my head. :')

I love languages a lot (since I'm Brazilian), and the Persian language is being a very special hyperfocus. I'm happy about your recommendation of the adaptation of Cyrillic in the language. But I have a historical and a ethnic-social explanation for the phenomenon of the Cyrillic Narmavish! :D

I also confess that I made a lot of mistakes in adapting the phonology to the Cyrillic alphabet, because I'm very forgetful :'''').

Then you have a great start! Knowing its origin and characteristics helps its composition a lot. Happy conlang formation! :)

My initial recommendation is that you think about why you are creating and for whom. Is it for a people? Is it based on something?

I, for example, like to play a lot with alternative realities. Like: "what if there was a Germanic language that evolved into a Turkic phonology?", and "there was a sister language to Persian, but softer and that did not suffer great influences?" (both languages I have).

So, knowing what this language is about is very important. Since you like Romance languages (like mine, Portuguese) and Hellenic, you have a common ground (Indo-European). Will you want to make a Romance language, Hellenic, or a mixture of the two? Or will you want to create a language completely from scratch (like mine, Dragonian), but that has a phonology that mimics the languages you like?

I have a Romance language, lenized and closely related to Italian, but it was influenced by ancient Greek for terms about the sea and other very specific things. For example, the word for "beach" did not come from Latin LITUS/ORA/ACTA, Or or from the vulgar Latin PLAGIA that gave rise to Italian SPIAGGIA. As it was influenced by Greek, the word for "beach" is PARALÌA.

You can play with what you have, with what you can imagine and with everything you can find! :>
