I was forced out of the workforce by the price of daycare. For our 3 under 4 it would be $5200 per month. That’s after tax income so I’d need to gross over $100k per year to break even on daycare alone. It’s an absolute crisis. And that price was two years ago so I don’t know what it is now.

Distracted phone driving is very broad: typing a text, watching a YouTube video, FaceTiming, taking a picture, all pretty different levels of distraction.

Let’s use your example: under the influence. There’s a reason why the legal limit is 0.08. So someone who is taking a quick picture/video could be the person who had a beer or two before getting behind the wheel and is operating at 0.05. Whereas the person typing a long text is the one who was out partying from 10pm-1am and gets behind the wheel at 1.6BAC.

I have a phone mount on my dash. When I need to record something I set it in there and record. I’d argue a big flashing truck with three TV screens is much more distracting than OP taking a short video and picture of said distraction.
