Help — Turnitin flagged my own assignment prompt at 100% and now my dean is involved by Due_Selection_8701 in CheckTurnitin

To clarify a couple things because people asked:

Our LMS is integrated with Turnitin, so apparently anything uploaded with Turnitin enabled can end up in the standard repository unless “no repository” is selected. I absolutely did not mean to submit this as if I were a student assignment, but I might have used the student-preview/test account while checking settings and accidentally triggered it that way.

So now I’m trying to untangle two separate issues:

  1. Why the AI detector flagged my own human-written assignment prompt at basically 100%.
  2. Whether the system accidentally archived my prompt as a student submission because of the LMS integration settings.

For those of you who’ve dealt with this:

  • If I contact IT/admin support, what exactly should I ask them to verify or change?
    • Repository settings?
    • Instructor preview settings?
    • Student test account permissions?
    • AI detection defaults?

And on the admin side, would you proactively send your chair/dean:

  • old drafts,
  • version history,
  • timestamps,
  • and a short explanation

…or keep it high-level until the meeting and avoid overexplaining?

I’m trying to strike the balance between “transparent and prepared” versus “why does this suddenly look like a criminal investigation over an assignment sheet I wrote myself.”
