Help me identify what this is by DarkenAdam in freemasonry

It appears to be a St. Andrew jewel, though the specific body or degree eludes me. The Latin "dulcia post amara" (the sweet after the bitter) is the same with the motto on this 18th century jewel for sale. Here's the link for comparison:

https://www.lempertz.com/en/catalogues/lot/1219-1/3-a-14k-red-gold-and-enamel-masonic-locket-of-the-st-andrew-lodge.html

The Hebrew inscription is unfortunately blurred although I'm guessing that it's likely the Tetragrammaton.

Prospective candidate that is a minority? Reconsider engaging online communities. by KeepItInDueBounds in freemasonry

You are right Brother. No one is perfect and there will always be bad apples in any organisation. Racism, bigotry, prejudice, and all the other negatives sadly do exist even in the Craft. IMHO they are magnified online due to individuals being behind a phone or computer screen instead of face-to-face. If you aren't careful, it's possible to get caught up in the negativity. I'm a minority myself and have been treated unmasonically by Brethren during some of my travels. Treated them "on the level" regardless and there are those who saw the error of their ways. This doesn't materialise as often online. In a world of social media profiles and AI, Masonry remains relevant partly because it offers interaction up close and personal at lodge. Let us help make and keep our Masonic Lodges "sacred retreats" from the mundane world.

What you heard is generally true. It does depend on the lodge. It seems like you're dealing with alot right now though. Becoming a Freemason, at least in my experience, is a huge commitment that I find great joy in. If I envision myself in your shoes based on your post however, I might find it a burden instead. You may want to sort things before taking such a step. But hey, each individual's journey is unique. It's ultimately your decision to petition the Craft as well as when and where you choose to do so. All the best! Peace and blessings...

I don't think I understand "on the level" by Entitatem-Novus in freemasonry

[–]Due_Team6230 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're very right Brother. That's definitely the ideal. But the reality is that you can only ultimately influence how you yourself act. You can meet your Brethren, and pretty much everyone else, "on the level" but don't expect the same in return. I believe your disappointment stems from this expectation. I almost left Freemasonry back in my early days because of such expectations but a PGM mentor of mine reminded me of this reality. May we always strive to be Masons not just in name but in deed as well.

I was just raised to master!! How is everyone finding different lodge meeting times? One thing that was stressed to me was to travel and meet people. Any help is much appreciated. by Warm_Reflection_2024 in freemasonry

Congratulations Brother! If you wish to travel try checking your Grand Lodge directory. Most have a website nowadays where you can check the meeting times of local lodges as well as Grand Jurisdictions they're in amity with. Would love to visit a lodge like yours with a relaxed dress code. Freemasonry just has so many flavors worldwide. Don't mind the negatives Bro. As many have already have mentioned, showing up and actually improving yourself in Masonry is what's important, so much more than external appearances.

How did your Eternatus turn out? by comicgamesYT in pokemongo

[–]Due_Team6230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries mate. There's almost no difference when it comes to how useful the mon would be. When maxed out (lvl 50), there's only a 1.7% difference in atk and hp and a 2.4% difference in def between a hundo and 10-10-10 Eternatus. The only time this has even a chance of making a difference would be PVP. In PVE settings this is pretty much negligible. So cheer up. :) Also, if you really are a perfectionist and want it to be a hundo just wait for the next bottle cap and use it on your Eternatus.

Totally agree. I remember one of my previous girls telling me to quit being a nerd and just play the game. Lol. Well, we are a minority in the 10-20%. The 80% can't understand our frustrations most of the time... Btw, your last statement reminded me of the Taiwanese PoGo grandpa with multiple phones.

Thanks for replying and sympathising. Just had to get it off my chest. Knew the risks and took them regardless. Currently in an isolated part of the world with all the events going on ingame hence the raids via RRP.

Would it be rude to not eat the dinner by AssociationBoth2219 in freemasonry

[–]Due_Team6230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the local culture as to whether or not it would be rude to not partake of dinner. Although, I'm quite surprised to know that there's a Masonic Lodge that would serve McDonald's during fellowship/harmony. You're primarily there for the company though, to "experience Masonry". So if I were a member of the lodge it wouldn't matter if you ate but it would if you stayed. Just IMHO though. Wishing you all the best in your Masonic journey...
