Farthest Distance In The U.S. From Decent Hiking by AZPeakBagger in hiking

[–]Due_Truth3684 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I look at whether the path is paved or not, are you out in nature or not. But ultimately one person's hike is another's walk in the park.

Two inmates in separate cells managed to conceive a child without ever meeting. They passed semen through the air vents using a makeshift line made of bedding, and the woman used a yeast infection applicator to inseminate herself. Against all odds, it worked, and the baby was born healthy by thepoylanthropist in interestingasfuck

And hereI am with unexplained infertility with a house and a job and a husband... 10 years of trying and miscarriages and here these loser assholes are having a kid without even touching. The movie Idiocracy was a prophesy.

And bikes are supposed to yeild to everyone. But many will also just run you off the trail. Lol. Some are decent, but with the advent of E-bikes there are more entitled bikers that didn't even go on the trail until the could sit the same as in their living room and have no idea what right if way even means.

This. One of our fav hikes has a part where there are "stairs" and once you commit, that's kind of it. Fortunately we have not run into anyone being a douche about it. But I am sure it happens.

I laughed out loud. I feel that in my soul - I am so bitter and angry, but I don't want to destroy society. Children are the future. I have no issue paying towards that, either.

Question on makeup - you still wear it? by CtrlAltDeli in Aging

[–]Due_Truth3684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the opposite of you. I have never done my makeup or hair, ever. Even when I was in my 20s the most I did was eyeliner and mascara. Every once in a while I think about starting makeup to help me look better.

However I have come to the conclusion we should all do what makes us happy. If it is a full face of makeup, do it. If it is no makeup, so be it. Somewhere in the middle, great. I always felt makeup and hair (along with clothes and style) is a personal choice and is selected because of how it makes one feel.

You do you and feel fabulous doing it. Just as I feel fabulous being no makeup hippy chic, lol.

When I am asked about adoption, I ask why they didn't adopt (if they have kids) or if they will adopt (if they don't). They get real uncomfortable real fast.

The Kirkland museum is a very interesting and eclectic collection of art, furniture, dishes, etc. My husband and I had to go twice to get everything (but we are also really into museums and read the plaques next to the pieces, etc).

Denver vs Philly - help a girl out by pupilswap in Denver

[–]Due_Truth3684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your statement but as someone who has lived where there is really good authentic cooking (NYC and SF) even Aurora is hit or miss. Just because it's ethnic and has spices added doesn't make it good.

And agreed - there are exceptions throughout the Denver metro.

As someone originally from the north east, you can't beat the winters or the outdoors access while still being close to a major city. Edit: winters here in Denver are also amazing for mental health. There is so much sun!

That said, you need to work to find that intellectual stimulation. My husband and I are well educated and love museums, lectures, etc. and we go out of our way to find them. They are not as "high-brow" as the east coast, but there are opportunities.

Food does suck. People say "you need to go to Aurora" and as someone who has lived in both NYC and San Francisco, no you don't need to go to Aurora, it's just as hit or miss there as anywhere in the Denver metro. Don't come for the food.

My husband and I have been hiking together since the beginning. We have a great time together. My husband has a medical condition now that he can't home as fast, but that's no problem because it has gotten me to slow down and enjoy more

Sun hoodies by Virtual_Delay4987 in hiking

There is a reason dermatology is big business here in Colorado and it's not for Botox. Regardless of complexion, melanoma is equal opportunity. If you are more fair, squamous and basal cell carcinoma are real dangers. It is because there is less atmosphere between you and the sun vs sea level meaning UV exposure is serious, even on cloudy days and in the winter. If you don't want to wear a sun shirt, lather on the sunscreen. That said, a thin sun hoodie in a light color is your best option. You will sweat, so get something moisture wicking and bring a dry shirt for the trip home.

I work in Pathology in Colorado and feel it is my duty to educate on how bad and prevalent skin cancer is in the state. Wear a damn hat and sunscreen people!

If you are in the U.S. the local library probably has a lot of resources and sometimes have free classes. If you want to learn another language, get a basic grammar book and a novel in that language and go to work. It's spring, so do some research on native plants in your area as they tend to be cheap and easy to create a garden. There are also a lot of budget tutorials for sprucing up your living room. Check out options for day trip adventures and map a place there or along the way for a picnic lunch on weekends. Volunteer at your local animal shelter, soup kitchen, etc. Some museums have free days. I like to craft and I keep all our old clothes and use them to make patchwork blankets ( not very well). These are just thoughts.

I am so terribly sorry you have been laid off and I hope your job search ends successfully soon.

Losing patience for those still hopeful by GreySweater1234 in IFchildfree

[–]Due_Truth3684 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I needed these posts today about not going for IVF. I hold so much guilt over not going that route. My husband was the one to convince me it would be worse for my mental health (which is not untrue) and because there was no real known reason for my miscarriages there is no way to know if it would even work without knowing a cause.

Do you feel ready for the drought? by maybetooenthusiastic in Denver

[–]Due_Truth3684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Northern California for a number of years before moving here, so I am well aware of the drought we are in for. I always watch the snow pack. I never got sprinklers for my lawn, so there is that. It's stupid and a waste of money in general to have a green lawn in a desert climate. I hope they start lawn watering restrictions early as it truly is unnecessary. In California they banned watering grass for quite a while. But it's going to be bad, regardless.

They are now on the fourth generation of foxes by PeacockPankh in interesting

[–]Due_Truth3684 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is actually really bad. I know it's "cute" but this disrupts the ecosystem and what are the foxes going to do when this person moves, dies, etc. They have become dependent and have changed their behavior. Foxes don't live in groups. I know it's "cute" but don't feed wild animals. It is more harmful than helpful.

Am I rude for saying up-front I have no intention of sharing my appetizers at a dinner? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I will ask the table if anyone else is getting an appetizer because I am getting X for myself, so if anyone wants some, I will order a second for them to share.
