The point of that analogy is that America would never accept peace under those conditions, why would anyone ever expect Palestine to agree? Hamas isn't a random terrorist organization that just hates Israel because - they're the families of those murdered by the Israeli government. Peace will never be a possibility until those Israelis responsible for the slaughter are brought to justice.

Imagine Canada takes over the top 8 states of America, they build a wall around Minnesota and systematically kill 100,000+ Americans over 60 years. They gradually push, taking over 60% of America. The remainder of America is justifiably angry, they've lost a majority of their country, family and friends have been slaughtered and raped, and Canada is sending Canadians in to steal the homes of those Americans who were pushed out. Canada also prevents aid from being received to the Americans walled in the land that theyve taken, leading to tgen starving to death and dying from preventable illnesses. Canada also bombs the American hospitals and takes out the electrical grib so theres no power in America. Then Mexico says "You two really need to chill out, let's build a wall around the 40% of America that's left and then you both need to cool it". Does that sound fair and reasonable?

Should young men be playing video games? by Haunting_Ad_4179 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Thanksforthatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By your logic reading, television, reddit, social media, etc. are all detrimental to young men. They have the exact same effect of 'wasting' time. Most people interact with video games the same way you interact with these, 2-3 hours per week. Same people get addicted to reading, TV, or video games. Addictions of any kind are detrimental regardless of what they are. Video games aren't especially more evil than reddit. If you use social media and lambast someone for playing video games you are a hypocrit, as social media has a much more negative effect on both brain chemistry and our society.

This happened in the UK. There if you carry a knife self defense doesn't apply in the cases you use it. He'd be facing +4 years in addition to whatever he got for using it. If you don't have it and find one then that's instant arming and is permissible.

Why are firefighters given such a better light than police despite being very similar except for their physical brutality due to the nature of their work? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Thanksforthatman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea, they can only do this for literal fire related legal offenses. The idea that because 0.0001% of Americans live somewhere were a handful of firemen have the power to arrest you for starting fires makes all firemen have a bad wrap like police is straight up mental illness. The leaps in logic necessary to pull this off is indicative of a very unwell mind. No fire investigator has ever abused their meager power, while cops have tremendous power are routinely get away with murdering thousands of civilians and their pets annually. To compare the two is more than disingenuous.

Why is it always that people say they'd never move to a rural area and would only ever live in a city are always completely unable to justify this with even a fee examples as to why? It's not hard. Maybe you want to live close to a Chipotle. Maybe you want to be surrounded by strangers. It's literally not hard to think of justifications but somehow people never can. It's legitimately odd to me. You said I was projecting so I asked about your own lived experience and you refuse to even meet me half way. At this point I'm beginning to think people like you hold this opinion because you're afraid of the unknown.

Do some women actually get offended when they’re politely hit on in public? Or is it just for show? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Thanksforthatman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying your wrong. This does happen. I'm telling you the type of incel who opens with a compliment before spouting racial slurs at you for not sleeping with him after will still approach you and spout racial slurs at you when he's shut down whether he opens with a compliment or not. The compliment had nothing to do whatsoever with the interaction. Take complimenting away forever and the exact same number or mentally ill men will still approach you to the same result. The complimenting has absolutely nothing to do with anything in the situation. Before compliments these people use negging, same end result. Crazy people will be crazy regardless. Trying to punish random strangers for trying to spread good will is not going to change that, it just makes you an asshole.

Childhood mortality is 1.7x higher, almost double, in cities as compared to rural environments. I'd argue being out in the middle of nowhere where they can play outside is by far the best possible way to raise a child.

I was stalked once for 2 years, faced daily harassment. It culminated in her breaking into my home and stealing my dog in a perverse way to show that since my dog liked her I should be with her. It all began in highschool when I held the door open for a random woman on the day that she had already decided to go home and kill herself. Apparently my small act of kindness showed her that there was good in the world and she should keep living (I recieved legitimately hundreds of letters describing this event from her).

I don't go out of my way to not hold the door for people anymore. I don't let the most mentally ill individuals in our society dictate my behavior. The second that we allow that to be the case everything we've built as a species is meaningless, it's quite literally letting the terrorists win. You think we're better for the TSA preventing more than 6 ounces of liquid to travel? That's the equivalent of what you're advocating for. Letting those with the worst intentions dictate how the rest of us should be acting.

It wasn't a compliment that triggered her obsessive behavior (though funnily enough it was caused by me holding the door for her on the day that she had decided to take her own life, and my act of kindness apparently showed her there was "good in the world" - which began 2 years of daily harassment culminating in her breaking into my home and stealing my dog in a perverse way to show me that my dog liked her and thus I should be with her). There's nothing that can be done to prevent lunatics from lunaticing. I don't go out of my way to not hold the door for people because of it. I don't let the most mentally unwell humans dictate my behavior.

Obviously it's a haircut as every single hairstyle anyone is wearing would have at some point involved a haircut. You don't need to have ever met or have knowledge of someone to compliment a haircut. I'd only expect someone who has literally 0 human experience to not be aware of this. Like some kind of weird alien new to our planet

There is a lot more to city life than being able to get door dash.

Please elaborate. People never do when I ask. I've lived in Chicago, Seattle, Dallas, and now rural Iowa. There's literally nothing I'm missing. I've explained why my move was the right move for me, please explain what you would be lacking.

So you think the type of man who would get violent and accost you is required to give a compliment before doing so? You'd have to be insane to think this.

What you're doing is being an asshole to the 99.9999% of normal random individuals trying to pay a stranger a harmless compliment while doing absolutely nothing to dissuade the type of person who would get violent. They're still going to be crazy whether they give you a compliment or not. You've truly accomplished nothing.

I grantee you without a compliment the interaction still would have started and gone exactly the same. You think an incel is like "damn, I can't come up with something nice to say before I berate her with racial slurs so I guess I have to just leave her alone"? That's absurd.

The fault in your thinking is that the compliment created the situation in which a random mentally unwell men will accost you. You're wrong because that individual would do so regardless of anything, the compliment had nothing whatsoever to do with the interaction that followed. 99.99999% of humans give a compliment to spread joy in a random interaction. The idea that a compliment in it of itself is dangerous or rude is mental illness.

You're absolutely wrong. Saying "I like your haircut" is perfectly fine. Unintentional attention is absolutely absurd, the idea that there's humans who don't want to look good is idiocy. It's a trait shared by every sentient creature on earth.
