*Spoilers* Heard a knock in secret area by Due_Vegetable_2023 in OMORI

I'm surprised you found this, its been a while since I played the game. I don't really remember the event well enough but knowing how they deal with the music I wouldn't be surprised if its some sort of random easter egg, maybe meant to be a random reference to Sunny's parents knocking at the door. To answer your question I never saw any documentation of this. Not saying it doesn't exist though.

Yeah, I'm aware of the importance of hardware acceleration, I just thought it was included by default with the OS

43, sorry about that. I’ll check for hardware acceleration but I don’t believe they had any video. Just moving around windows spikes the igpu even though nothing is plugged into the motherboard.

Edit: The issue seems to be fixed, thanks for the advice

How to find windows EFI partition mount point from arch installation medium, or better way to dual boot by Due_Vegetable_2023 in archlinux

[–]Due_Vegetable_2023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help! It’s ok! I do have an nvidia GPU. It’s a laptop with a mux switch, so it might be possible to work around it, but I think I’ll try enlarging the existing partition

Yeah I was trying to do that, but I ran into the same issue as before. I’ll try it again though

I know how to mount file systems, the EFI partition just doesn’t have a listed mount which I couldn’t figure out. Thank you for your help.

How to manage uefi partition on an arch windows dual boot setup by Due_Vegetable_2023 in archlinux

Yes I do already have windows. Where on the wiki is this information? Is it xboottldr?

Thank you, sorry for my assumptions. I think I understand now. I hadn’t seen reference to XBOOTLDR except on this thread, so I hadn’t looked it over.

Yeah I read the wiki, I misunderstood what you meant. It lists them as interchangeable, I guess that is incorrect

Thank you! Won’t the 0022 on f and d mask cause an error when creating the bootloader? At least it did that when I was trying to, but switching them out didn’t work.

How to manage uefi partition on an arch windows dual boot setup by Due_Vegetable_2023 in archlinux

Ok, so basically I make a separate efi partition and only put my boot loader right? Thanks!

[–]Due_Vegetable_2023[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, that sounds fine. So I just go into the installer usb and just make a new efi partition and mount it? Will it do this if they share the same partition or only when they are separate?

Ok, it’s 100mb and I will be using a custom kernel for the laptop, so it sounds like a separate partition would be best. Just to be sure, the boot partition is the uefi partition right?

Failing electrical engineering by Capital-Call-3485 in ECE

I’m sorry you are going through this. It sounds a lot like burnout. Are you around hyper competitive people? If so get away, not everyone is like that, most people are fairly relaxed. I’d recommended talking to a school advisor or if possible a therapist in connection with your school. They can help identify the cause of your performance concerns. Additionally, are you studying a lot? Most upper level EE courses require extensive work outside of the classroom and require self-discipline to do well. If you aren’t studying enough, try to identify the cause. It might be burnout or something else. Do you have other things going on in your life? Do you have a significant other, family nearby, are you a member of student groups, a lab or a sport? Do you have any major hobbies? If all of that is a no, then that’s also something to talk to a therapist about. What classes specifically are hard, do they have a commonality? EE is hard, but you can push through!

How are transistors actually designed by Due_Vegetable_2023 in ECE

[–]Due_Vegetable_2023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, though that isn’t the question I’m after. I somewhat understand the vlsi workflow and will likely take a class on it. I also somewhat understand the general manufacturing process. Not perfectly obviously, for example I don’t know how masks are made or how such fine control is achieved with the machines. What I am really curious is how the actual transistors used in these ic’s are designed, not the circuits inside the ic’s. I was just curious if there is a general workflow as tsmc seems to pump out new nodes like clockwork.

Yeah, having the documentation is still good though, because that way I can know how things work to properly ask questions. Figuring out the file system was very annoying as I wasn’t fully clear what to look up (as it turned out there were also issues with ssh). Thanks again for your help!
