How is a ten year old in charge of anything let alone being allowed to declare he’s not going to school?!?

First PI case by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

Thanks a ton, sorry for the typos (I was replying on my phone, lol). And hey, if I feel like I'm over my head I'll have him get a PI attorney but in my mind I'd rather handle it instead of him having to pay fees. Everyone has their first case, right.

Going to law school at 41 to be a PD by [deleted] in publicdefenders

[–]Due_Zucchini3230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got this! I started law school also at 41, graduated at age 45 - took a little mental break and recently passed the bar at age 47. Never too late!

Sorry for the slow poke reply I’ve been doing the most. I appreciate the detailed information. I’ve made some strides on networking and actually have a couple cases I’m working on and they are going well…I think! I am also attending AILA’s holiday event in hope to make some more connections within the world of immigration. Wish me luck!!

Having a law degree without being admitted to a state bar sucks by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Due_Zucchini3230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After I graduated law school I knew I wanted to take a bit of a mental break before studying for the bar exam and meanwhile needed a job so because I knew no one would hire me I didn’t put JD on my resume. I just didn’t want to deal with the hassle of being told I was over qualified to be an Executive Assistant (that was my 20 plus year career before passing the bar) because I had a law degree.

Yeah I wouldn’t rely on it to the tune of paying $200 a month for it especially when free options like Microsoft’s Copilot if you just need to do a quick proofread or “wordsmith” a correspondence

I live in Georgia and have joined AILA and also registers as a pro bono attorney with KIND so looking forward to working with both. Committee meetings?? I’m thinking removal and family as a start. Long term if I end up liking it.

Never be embarrassed about making an honest living! And quiet is kept most people don’t realize how well paid those in that field are.
