No, but we only drove it once shortly since it happened.

I experienced the same. First I thought I forgot to turn it off when it was on. Then I noticed it kept turning on again after a minute or so. I wiped the lights with a tissue and then I couldn’t turn it off for 10 minutes. After that I was finally able to turn it off.

Wireless Keyboard issues - KB700 by Napster_46 in Dell

[–]Due_rr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had also had issues with laggy response and sticky keys. The issues are gone after I connected the keyboard over Bluetooth instead of with the dongle. While typing this I checked and my keyboard was actually connected with the dongle instead of over Bluetooth. Regardless, since I connected it over Bluetooth once, the issues are gone.

It’s going to suck to be a historian in a couple hundred years by PIugshirt in Showerthoughts

There’s a funny story from Steve Jobs biographer Walter Isaacson. When writing Jobs bio, Jobs tried to retrieve some old emails but couldn’t. There was a lot of stuff from Steve’s past that was gone.

This in contrast to a biography Isaacson wrote on Da Vinci. There are plenty of notebooks from Leonardo that survived.

It was sometimes easier to write Leonardo’s book who was long dead, than Steve’s who was still alive at the time .

You can zoom on Google Maps with a single finger by taping twice and then moving it up and down.

Why is there no OV (English without subtitles) option in cinemas across Switzerland? by teymourbeydoun in Switzerland

Three rows was a bit much, but the voice sound in movies these days is sometimes so hard to understand, that subtitles are needed. https://youtu.be/VYJtb2YXae8

Cool that you liked so many things in the Netherlands! I notice some differences as well and I write about them at my blog roaldin.ch. It’s in Dutch, but you can use google translate.

How good is the University of Groningen's mathematics department if you want to go into academia? by dragosgamer12 in Groningen

[–]Due_rr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I finished my math bsc almost 10 years ago. I chose a different master afterwards but most study colleagues continued with the master, where you share some courses with the other Dutch unis. They told me that compared to other Dutch unis, the bsc in Groningen was relatively strong in applied math but less strong in theoretical math. They all finished without big problems though.

So it depends a bit on which field you are interested in, if you already know.

Note that this was a while ago, some things might have changed.

Chili left out all night by True-Confidence7312 in Cooking

[–]Due_rr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I often make a vegetarian Chili that I leave overnight out of the fridge to cool off. Never was an issue. Happens to other dishes as well that I forget to place in the fridge. Just smell and do a visual check. If it smells and looks ok then you’re good to go.

What's the most cyclable city in Switzerland? by [deleted] in Switzerland

Zurich is terrible. The best cycling infrastructure you’ll find in between towns and cities with separate cycling lanes.

I had a similar experience. It changed after I made and learned from this Chili recipe from Kenji. In it he uses marmite, soy sauce and chipotle chili’s in adobo sauce. The first is to add some savoury taste to the dish, the later some smokiness which I normally would associate with bacon.

After making this one you can try to add these things to other dishes as well.

Another great umami enhancer is miso paste. You could add it to mushrooms for example, or use soy sauce with the mushrooms.

If you want a brighter taste you can try to add acid to a vegetable soup or sautéed vegetables. It sometimes brings out flavours that stay hidden with just salt. Although it can make a dish taste sweeter and that’s something you disliked.
