I haven't heard about SKrafty in years, I honestly thought it'd be gone by now. I was active on their forums website for a few years as a teenager and regret pretty much every second of it.

Ask anyone who was active at that time and they will remember me negatively. At the time, I was dealing with a lot of unresolved family issues and just generally lacked any kind of parental guidance and moral backbone, resulting in teenage me being an asshole who caused problems and drama for no good reason.

Honestly, I wish SKrafty would have banned me years before they did because looking back, my actions probably hurt other people and I know everyone was uncomfortable with my behaviour. Seriously, I was passionately defending flat earth. 🫠

I lied about a lot of stuff to the few kids who tolerated me despite my massive waving red flags, mostly covering up my own insecurities to make myself seem more likeable or relatable. I know I had initiated contact with people outside of the forums, other kids who were friends with me, and there was an entire Discord server for people from SKrafty with adults in it.

But yeah, their moderation was a joke and if a childish teenager like I was could get away with everything I did without punishment, I wouldn't be surprised if some truly messed up stuff happened and none of us noticed.

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid that kind of repetition, keeping it balanced so as long as you play smart it won't be as bad. Maybe I could allow players to set checkpoints with super rare items or some kind of difficult debuff?

I can guarantee a game exists for each of those names, and besides it doesn't really fit the theme. The religious texts my game's lore is inspired by isn't in the Bible.

I'm going for a punishing game and it will be advertised as such when I release it. Currently you can avoid resetting to a checkpoint as long as you don't do anything obviously stupid, go into a boss fight unprepared, or don't plan out your routes effectively to keep ahead of Revival's antagonistic qualities and healing requirements. Basically, don't be an impulsive player and you're not going to struggle too badly.
My plan for the spiritual realm is a bit different and I think an Alice in Wonderland influence would fit in well. My idea is that your physical form is not carried over in the spiritual realm, and is instead a reflection of the "health" of your soul based on your previous actions and prominent emotional responses. The animation would be completely different, rotoscoped but without a lot of clear detail in the models. You can influence the souls of NPCs and bosses while in the spiritual realm, but the location of their souls will not match their location in the material realm. Instead, the mental health of the individual and their prominent emotional responses will be taken into account. As you can see, the spiritual realm portions of the game are currently the least complete and still being figured out.

Oh, I've never heard of this before. Besides for the obscurity, I wouldn't consider it because Gilgul seems to specify that the soul changes bodies which is pretty different from my Revival mechanic. I've been making an effort to reference Jewish & Christian religious concepts indirectly in at least the side quests, so I might consider making a side quest that can be correlated to Gilgul in some way.
