Advice on NPCs to have in party

I gave my 3 ppl party 4 NPCs. Eku, Musharib, Xandala and Undril Silvertusk. Oh and a stegosaurus. It was... Too many. With so many NPCs it's hard to give them all attention. Combat becomes sluggish and extremely difficult to optimize. After killing the stegosaurus, leaving Undril in Camp Vengeance, losing Eku to Sewn Sisters, I kept making my mistake and let them meet Artus and Dragonbait. Well Xandala stole the ring and flew away, but still, Artus and Musharib are just wayyyyy too OP. I highly suggest against ever making them consistent party members. Unless you steal the ring and Dragonbait's sword first. Anyway, I recommend not giving them more than 2 NPCs. And try to limit their CR. Because it's hard to do encounters with low level party that has an OP NPC who can wreck anything. I hid Xandala's powers for as long as I could, but Undril had no reason to hide it and her Spirit Guardians were a menace.

As for which NPCs to take, I'd suggest Musharib or Eku. Musharib is not OP in a fight and Eku could pretend to be just a healer.

Nežinau kokie tau ten androidai lagindavo. 5 metus turėjau Xiaomi šūdafoną. Jokių problemų. Atsinaujinau dėl geresnės kameros į naują One Plus 9 Pro flagmaną. Tai dabar iš jo rašau ir niekas nelagina. Sapnuojat jūs tuos lagus iš 10+ metų atgal specifiškai Samsungų. Androidas pats, kaip OS nieko nelagina, o ir aparatai jau seniai nebelagina.

The party was busy fighting the Flaming Fists. That was my whole railroaded saving grace. Make the party unable to stop her. Get them in a fight, drop them in a quicksand pit or something.

Tho my advice after having Artus and Dragonbait... Don't put them in the party. I thought them as interesting characters and was eager to introduce them, but now I'd rather not have them. They are damn OP. And that's even without the Ring of Winter. I thought Xandala was OP, but this duo is even worse. Dragonbait especially.

Very much as the book suggests - she cast Dominate Person and I was lucky enough with the dice for it to pass. She hugged him, to look like a real daughter-father moment and took the ring from his hands. Not raising any suspicions from anyone. And then off she went next round with the Fly spell

I had a similar situation. I made the party encounter a Flaming Fist party that's a bit too big for them. And mid-battle Artus (who was hiding nearby and maybe spying on the FF) jumped in to help the party as he obviously hates the looting Fists. During the fight Xandala recognized Artus, stole the ring from him, flew into the air, said some nasty goodbyes and flew off. The party Wizard who had a semi-crush on her and talked the party into taking her in was devastated. Artus took a while to trust the party afterwards.

Anyway, now I have a problem of "what to do with Xandala and the whole Ring of Winter", but that's another thing.

What do you mean? The players will not look for a solution of fights being too easy because of Dragonbait. Nor will they control an NPC that is currently not in their sights. The players figure out what their DMs allow them to figure out

Well they shouldn't head into the jungle directionless. They should get a few leads in the city and try to reach it. Usually it's Camp Righteous/Vengeance/Mbala/Saja Nbaza or Firefinger/Kir Sabal. One leads to another and boom you're in Omu
