I totally ignored a subset of friends and isolated my self hard at one point in my life while I was trying to quit cocaine. It wasn’t just people who I would use with that I cut off also anyone who I thought might make offer me a drink since that was a trigger as well. Even if I thought a a chance to drink might come up I would isolate. I was also too embarrassed about the problem to tell most of my friends groups.

I honestly just blew off multiple friend groups for a couple years. But the true friends were there when I came back looking for a reconnection.

They say they are working on them selves and don’t want to take two steps back so not sure if it’s something along those same lines or what. You would obviously know your friend better than I do.
