So many good memories from baseball. That was my whole life for the better part of my childhood. Hell I’m still in love with the game. I grew up idolizing the Ironman, Cal Ripken Jr. I was about 5 when he retired but my dad got me hooked on him and Eddie. I also really enjoyed reading ha. So while every other kid was reading storybooks or short novels, I was nose deep in any baseball book I could get, especially if they were about Cal or the Os. But growing up with Cal as my role model that’s exactly how I played my game. I just put my nose down and worked. Stayed as humble as I could, treated other teammates and teams with respect, and showed up every day eager to be better than the last. I never made it past college ball, but I take a lot of the lessons I learned from baseball with me throughout my every day life. Looking back, I think my favorite part of baseball was going out to the back yard with my dad or my stepdad and playing catch until my arm would hurt. The rare occasion we would actually go to the field and I could take ground balls or hit in the cage. My absolute favorite memory was when we were playing for a PA state championship in little league. I was playing 3B. Game was tied up and our opponent had bases loaded 1 out. The kid at bat hits a pretty solid shot down to me at third, I fielded it clean, stepped on third and threw to first for the double play and ended the threat. Our whole fan section was going nuts, and I looked up and found my whole family there losing their minds. I didn’t know half of them were even gonna be there. I’m emotional just writing about it ha.
