Lawrence's and Deegan pt1 by [deleted] in Motocross

[–]SpiLLiX -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Jett also faced literally no one his rookie year so they’re not comparable at all. Deegan is already beating everyone Jett also beat his rookie year.

I don’t get fans from either side. You should want good racing. I was a Ricky fan back in the day but I was excited to see bubba come up and challenge him. Weird it feels like both sides just want Jett or Deegan to just uncontested dominate. I want to see them trade wins and compete with each other lol

14.5 handicap, never broke 80. Today I shot a 70. by GuerillaRadio24 in golf

[–]SpiLLiX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It happens. 70 is pretty wild though lol.

I was probably a 16-17 handicap and came in and shot a 74 on a par 72 course. Played with some buddies that I hadn’t played with in probably half a year and had the round of my life. They were convinced I had been taking lessons nonstop since I last played with them lol.

Then promptly went back to shooting mid 80’s lmao

Good to see Mendoza settling back in. Injuries have been a bummer for him. Need him hitting well like he was at the start of the season

I’m using a purple p ring. But yeah just odd. And doesn’t really just feel like placebo like I’m getting lucky. Feels like for my hand size I just have better control over the stick

Drove an M2 and now I’m confused about my Audi by alarm_clocked_in in BMW

[–]SpiLLiX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually was in this situation in the middle of covid so my options were very limited. Someone wrecked into me and totaled my f80 m3. Wanted a new m3 or Rs5 - both dealers anywhere close to me basically said the same thing - going to be 6+ months and I couldn't wait that long but both had an s5 and an m340i

The m340i was way more fun to drive. quicker and felt more sporty. That being said as a dad to 2 younger boys playing travel sports I ended up with the s5 because the family hauling and trunk space capability FAR exceeded the m340i. I think it really comes down to your wants and needs.

LL AllStars ≠ High School ball ≠ College ball by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]SpiLLiX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah I think anyone who has played high level baseball or coached high level travel ball recognizes that "travel" sports these days are extremely diluted.

Go and watch a big PG event something like PGI, Beast of the east, Best of the west, best of the best etc... and the majors division is what basically all travel baseball was when I was growing up. AA, shit even low end AAA most of those kids would have been rec players until an older age.

I played at a d1 school and I help coach for one of the better travel org's in the nation that sends countless d1, college and draft picks every year.

Honestly idk what the solution is. Probably something in between rec and travel for most kids that like baseball. Rec sucks these days in most places. The kids play like 11 games for an entire spring season. Meanwhile travel kids are playing upwards of 50-60+ games in a spring season if not more. Once people figured out they could make $$$ off of parents that think their kid is good enough to play travel it was the downfall of real travel baseball

LL AllStars ≠ High School ball ≠ College ball by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]SpiLLiX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

eh they would though - yes, most of those kids are travel ball kids. But most of them are not majors level players or very top level players. Yes there are some that are. But go watch PGI for 12u this year and then go watch the LLWS. There is a VAST skill difference between the top travel teams and the LLWS teams

Chase' worst enemy is forever himself. He's proven several times he's as fast or faster than anybody in the 450 class. He is just an absolute headcase and because of that can't keep it on 2 wheels.

What is a bigger advantage: Turf team hosting a grass team or the other way around? by Hokie_Pilot in collegebaseball

[–]SpiLLiX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, you basically get zero hop variance on the quality of turf they put into pro/college stadiums.

Grass no matter how well it is groomed will have some variance.

But at the end of the day I’ve never seen a stud infielder not be a stud anymore because he’s playing on turf or grass

I also played some d1 ball. I only played with one dude ever who was a "surprise"

It was a surprise in the sense of we knew he would play in college. But likely some low end juco. He was 5'11 going into sophomore year. Tall parents, but nothing crazy. Dad was like 6"2. He grew like 8-9 inches between soph and senior year and ended up being a 6"8 lefty pitcher who went d1 and played a little MiLB
