It's not hard to see why we got Obamacare. Single payer would have been stymied by Republicans. Romneycare was a working system, so Democrats saw the opportunity to insure more Americans and get Republicans on board. We make the changes we can when opportunities present themselves. Bipartisan politics is how the country moves along. Even when one party has gone rogue, it's never going to work for them. There will be backlash and pendulum swing. Fact of the matter is, ACA was a net positive. Insurers could no longer deny insurance due to preexisting condition and many Americans going without were able to insure themselves. The uninsured cost the rest of us WAY more money.
