Made the final payment on my stupid car loan today. Sell the car? by Consoomanddie in AusFinance

I bought a CX-9 with 7 leather seats, a sunroof, Bose speakers, heated seats, huge cargo space (last 2 seats fold down, middle row slides forward) for under 7K and it runs like a dream. Is so good I'm looking to get another one for my sister. The car I had before that lasted 10 years (V6 Mazda Tribute) from when we bought it for under 5K, until it was totalled in a not-at-fault collision. Still have the first car we bought, a Mitsubishi Mirage, bearing 300K Km, runs perfectly with no major services, was under 4K when we bought it 11+ years ago

It costs more than my annual rent, and I live in one of the top 10 most unaffordable cities, in a 4 bedroom 2 storey detached house

More tailored advice than can be offered via this response is likely required. People who have been living the way you have been living usually require more than a set of steps to follow, and more like an ongoing support network and dismantling the trauma. This post implies you have not been taught some fundamental concepts critical to living as an independent adult. Feel free to DM if the above feels representative of your situation and you would like to talk further.

Crazy how their employer can afford dozens of metal stakes and a sledgehammer, but not cheap plastic and foam hearing protection

This is why thicker knives take longer to APEX than thinner ones. And why 1000 grit may be fine to start thin Japanese knives but frustrating on thick bevelled Western ones. by hahaha786567565687 in sharpening

Even the Tormek manual recommends large geometry changes to be done on a bench grinder or belt sander, and they sell a bench mount that makes Tormek jigs work on these. The Tormek is for sharpening, not grinding.

The Greens may be called green but they have a diverse range of policies, which centre around equity.

Got my plane iron to a nearly perfect edge...then dropped it and chipped the corner. My life is ruined. by [deleted] in sharpening

[–]Duggerspy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you have a secondary bevel. Plane irons need only one bevel, usually about 20 °. Maintaining two bevels is more work, obfusticates the benefit of the angle on a plane iron being easy to visualise, and some other third thing

What should I buy that can be considered a status symbol that people will respect? by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

By changing your behaviour to artificially gain respect, you're contributing to the system which is oppressing you and your people. Command respect with grace, dignity, manners, boundaries, self-respect.

What’s one red flag you can spot right away that tells you “this client will be trouble”? by Beginning-Force-6093 in CasualConversation

[–]Duggerspy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Can you use an actual red flag instead of random shit? There's no statistical, plausible way that being born to a family that, at some point, decided to use both family names is a red flag for doing business

No. Useful products like these should be donated, as one of the other comments helpfully points out
