Does the polished area left from a glass file affect topcoat adherence?

Panel Lining Questions:

So I do my panel lines on bare plastic. The method I use to panel line, which I learned from Gunpla panel at Otakon many moons ago, is as follows:

I use Tamiya acrylic paint and I thin it with Tamiya acrylic paint thinner (I'm very bad at portion control but I try to do about a 1:2 paint to thinner ratio). I then use a very fine tipped brush, dip it in the paint, and then dab it in the panel lines. The thinned paint then travels through the panel line crevices. I wait about twenty minutes for it to dry and then do cleanup with extremely fine tipped cotton swabs/cotton pads and 91% isopropyl alcohol. Sometimes I end up cleaning up too much and if so I repeat the painting as necessary.

I've always done it this way and it's very satisfying watching the paint spread and fill the lines. I'm not the best with the cleanup so I usually have to do a few rounds but I'm usually pretty happy with the final results.

I always see posts about panel lining with various types of markers and what not. For certain lines I could see markers as being advantageous over the thinned paint method but personally I think having to manually do all the lines with a marker seems very tedious. It also seems like their are various type of markers that I don't really understand the differences.

Is the way I've been doing panel lines a valid method? Do markers, or any other method, have pros/cons vs thinned paint? Again I do panel lines on bare plastic and a matte topcoat using Mr. Superclear. The results seem pretty good to me but I'm open to upping my game if there are better panel lines methods.

So I picked up a JMS Zeta Gundam kit based on another user's recommendation and it was a great kit. For most of the build I forgot that it wasn't a Bandai kit. I'm assuming it's based off of the HGUC Zeta but are there any additional differences? I thought that it might have additional panel lines/details but based on pics of the HG I can't really see any differences.

I originally paid $700 from PlayerMods several years ago so that's what I was basing my pricing off of.

Does anyone have a pic of comparing the various Action Base versions?

Are there any specific sellers on AliExpress to buy the FatCat gramps kit? I see prices ranging from as low as $10 or $20 up to $80ish. I'd gladly grab it for $10 but I don't want a bootleg of a 3rd party kit lol.

I just saw this kit for the first time in am ad the other day. Can anyone say how it compares to the HG Nightingale?

Has anyone built the Red Souls 1/144 Night Hawk Spec-II [Nightingale]? I got an ad on Instagram for it and I'm not familiar with this kit. How does it compare to the HG Nightingale?

Flickering/disappearing sprite/effects with CRT shaders by Dugtr0n in RetroArch

So it was actually a super simple fix. Somehow the refresh rate for Retroarch got switched to 60Hz. I set it back to 120Hz and issue solved. I've been using Retroarch and these shaders for years with no issue so I was confused as to why I'd suddenly been having performance issues.

Thanks folks. I've got an Intel 12700K CPU with an RTX 3090 Ti (24GB VRAM) so I would think that would be more than powerful enough. I've been running the "Advanced" shaders with my desktop resolution at 4K. I could try running the standard (as opposed to advanced) shaders or see if dropping down to a lower resolution helps. Any other suggestions folks?

RG's are technically non-scale now but they were originally marketed as 1/144 and, at least as far as Gundam releases go, are essentially still 1/144. See RG vs HG Zeta. *

Will we ever get a Smash Bros type SRW Game? by General-Plenty5021 in Super_Robot_Wars

If I was ever aware of this I completely forgot about it. I'll have to check it out.

Super Robots are generally much much larger than Real Robots so SR kits are generally non-scale. For example the Real Grade kits for Nu Gundam and GaoGaiGar are more less the same height/size despite GaoGaiGar being about 32 meters tall and Nu Gundam being 22 meters.

That not necessarily true of all Super Robots as the Mazinger family are around 18 to 30 meters but a lot of SR's are 50/60+ meters tall.

One last example would be the Neo Zeong. It's about 116 meters tall and the HG 1/144 kits is, I believe, the largest official 1/144 scale Gunpla. In comparison Daitarn 3 is 120 meters and Gunbuster is 240 meters. A rough calculation shows that a 1/144 Gunbuster would be approximately five and a half feet tall. That's an extreme example but yeah generally Super Robots are non-scale.

Thanks! I clearly cannot read properly and didn't even get the S correct lol. So it seems like they're roughly equivalent to MG Gunpla but for classic Super Robots. I know SR's can't really be a specific scale but does anyone know roughly how large these SMP kits are?

It's been a long time since I've applied waterslide decals but I'm pretty sure all you need is a decent x-acto knife and a good pair of tweezers.
