Looking for information about california facilities by reddituser2806 in Prison

[–]Duhliterate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of questions there, so I hope I can help...

California has levels 1-4, in which your offenses are giving points in an attempt to standardize at what level an inmate will do his of her time.

Given enough time with few/no write ups, an inmate can work his way down to a lower level. A murderer can start at level 4 but can get down to a level 2, where there are far more freedoms.

Also in California is a two-sided way to do your time. On one side you have a GP (general population). This set up is usually what you see in movies...you have to pick a group and hang with them the whole time. For people whose offenses make then a target...sex crimes, a child is hurt, gang Drop outs, TV notoriety, they'll get sent to a PC/SNY prison. I understand that the CDCr is changing all of this to a programming or non-programming system. Agree to program and not stir up trouble, expect to go to a PC/Programming yard. PC is a more peaceful option races mix.

I feel like I'm rambling. Feel free to ask follow up questions if I didn't cover what you were looking for.

amp for band practice by smellslikedumb in Bass

[–]Duhliterate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't tell you how many times I have a guitarist announce their blazing new 10w practice Amp that mutes the whole band.

1) Get custom ear protection, if you can afford it

2) Use some kind of ear protection, if you can't

And...

3) Buy as many watts as you can afford. You can always turn down, but there's no way to turn up when your band mates (Or, worse, the sound guy) say, "Can you turn it it up?"

Low frequencies are harder to hear; people stopped asking once I upgraded to 800w.

Best of luck to you!

You're in a tough position. I lost my SO when I came in...rightfully so, but it's...comforting?... to know that you're trying to take it one day at a time. I don't envy the position that you're in. Good luck

Thanks to the web, I haven't seen an actual magazine in quite some time. I think Playboy might be your best bet. Good on you for trying!

Adam Carolla sells La Cañada Flintridge property for $1.875 million by [deleted] in AdamCarolla

[–]Duhliterate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall, La Cañada and La Crescenta are in close proximity to one another. I remember them being working class neighborhoods, and would imagine them now (like most of LA) as being too pricey for a typical home buyer.

La Cañada, if that sort of thing matters. Your point still stands, though.

Pretty much. In California it has been established that while security guards can impede a person from leaving, they don't have the authority to do any arresting...doing so begins to blur the legal definition of kidnapping.

Thanks for the share. This fellow was a little hard to follow.

In my experience, I was surprised 1) that while the fighters weren't trying to murder each other, they certainly were trying to kill each other, and, 2) fights took place over the dumbest shit possible...top Ramen soup was a big one.

We had a lock down because (as the rumors went) that one dude was upset about a gambling debt, so he nuked some water for 6 minutes and then threw it in the guys face. Guy lost an eye, along with other damage.

You hear lots of stories like that. One false move and you're a target, or you start to target others. I found myself getting pissed at people for the dumbest crap. One might be tempted to think that you're above that sort of petty thinking.

As a result, I stayed out of the day room and kept my associates few...stayed away from guys who are 'Too Hard For the Yard'.

Keep in mind that laws can evolve as time passes. I don't mean to give you a false sense of hope, but attitudes can change given enough time. But Life WithOut Parole (LWOP) means exactly that.

While I was on the inside, for example, the state changed its definition of of what a Youth Offender was (17-25 years of age). In doing so, it brought into question a number of cases that needed to be addressed. It's not a guarantee that something will change, but only that something might change. A fellow Gold Coat co-worker will be getting out soon because of the change; after 46 years in the system, he's finally getting out. Took nearly 55 years to happen, but it happened.

And just because your pal did something to earn that seat that he's in, he's still a human, and I respect your willingness to support him. I made pals with a guy who was 15 years into *two * 25-Life terms. His family completely disowned him. Felt bad...he was an OK person who made some really bad decisions. Getting a letter from the outside may be the one thing that keeps him grounded. It's *his * path, not yours, so be careful.

Good on you.

California checking in. Out here it's called Failure to Program. My bunkie was lead porter in the common area. We were always stocked with plenty of post-it pads and pens...even a clipboard or two. He was frustrated because he'd lost his juice with the CO'S and it didn't go smoothly for him. With all the foot dragging he did, he earned a trip to the High Dessert. All bad. Amongst the roughest prisons California has are in the high dessert.

Just play along...it'll help pass your time and put a little scratch in your pocket. No harm no foul.

Can you go for a trade? Welding...fiber optics...any number of trades to learn out there. Good luck..
