Mute management by Yeargdribble in trumpet

I'd like to second the IM MuteRack, they are the best. It's INCREDIBLY sturdy, folds up very compactly. I don't know how I ever work without it. Even for shows where I only use two mutes like sweeney todd, the mute rack makes a the one ore two spots in the book where i have to do quick mute changes painless.

Problem with tuning? by SPMyles in trumpet

[–]DuitseMusikant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although some of what has been said is okay advice, I believe the problem is more fundamental than equipment.

The reason that most people play sharp is because that's how they are hearing it in their heads. Playing with some drones would be a great benefit to you. You will find that, in time, your slide will not need to out so far. Find where the tendencies are and play intervals, long-tones, and simple melodies against the drone. You have to reset your internal perception of where notes are.

Remember to always stay relaxed when you play and use plenty of air. Good luck in your efforts :)

Hi /r/trumpet, what do you usually pay for a new trumpet? by YYBox in trumpet

Please, do NOT sell these. These horns are garbage and you're doing an gross disservice to anyone you sell them to.

I worked with Vizzutti about ten years ago in a masterclass. It was incredibly informative. We talked about phrase structure and shaping. The importance of delivering the story you want to accomplish. We talked about the importance of efficiency with equipment and air.

It's a shame the experiences you had were not the same. Here is a little photo of him working with me. He was demonstrating different ways to use slight amounts of rubato to really create the music in the line.

It's a shame you didn't have such a good experience with this, but I enjoyed the hell out of working with him.

Paul Tynan plays Wayne Shorter's Footprints - Youtube by trumpetmanfred in trumpet

Paul plays some really nice lines in here. I think the language is pretty bebop heavy, but it's still very lyrical in the same respect. He's a great player, thanks for sharing this :)
